Today I've been thinking a lot about a post I wrote a couple of years ago when Virginia eked out a gubernatorial victory for Tim Kaine. It was a high-stakes election, much like the one we're currently witnessing, albeit then it was only Virginia - today, honestly, the world is at stake

I never understand why people vote and speak out against their own self interest (ie, poorer people wanting a flat tax).

Sorry I missed you at Chioccas but the energy and enthusiasm at Toad's Place was not to be missed.
