Theoretically, I have nothing against good ole' R.L. But when I was younger (11 or so) and asked for a Poe collection for Xmass from my father's parents, they predictably thought the choice too morbid and bought me a run of Goosebumps instead, which I never read out of sheer spite.
I've honestly not read the entire catalogue, and while every one of his stories with which I'm familiar has its selling points, I vote for the Cask of Amontillado.
