about 6 volumes in Akamatsu went 'lol actually I wanted to do an action series all along' and ever since we have been more and more and more shonen. Except, at the same time, we have moe girls also being badass. It is a splendid balance.

There is a definite reason why I disclaimer any pimp post to 'start at volume 5, if you're okay with that'. Before that it's basically just over-the-top fanservice, whereas after that it starts dialling it down (there is still a lot, but it's not OOPS I SNEEZED) and starts getting some surprisingly well-done action sequences. And arcs about 90 chapters long, and crap.
