Trust me, I very much see that. Montana elected a Dem in the last election to some statewide office. Can't recall if it was governor or Congress, but they did.
I don't want to tell anyone else how to live, but I don't want them telling me either, and I'm just flabbergasted that so many people bought into the Bush campaign.
The Daily Mirror headline the day after the election was really fucking rude, but I have to say that's exactly what I was thinking too. Just because I might think they're less than brilliant doesn't mean I don't want the country we all live in to work for them too.

On the up side the work is rewarding. It's cold here now. Grey too but the women are great, especially mine. The food is high quality. There is plenty of Entertaiment. We just won the best ska band in Germany. Next week we're starting our Austrian Holiday tour. I'm making a pilgrimage the day we play Graz to see Arnold Schwarzenegger's Tank. That should be pretty neat. Every time I make a Euro I'm really making a 1.40$.
The negatives include that the German economy is in the toilet. The only politicians who make sense are nationally reviled or ignored. (Germany and Europe) Internet service here is the worst, and the tax rate is 40%. Every time I make 1.40$ I'm really only making a dollar.

Hot.
Still working way too much for not enough money.
When I make $1.40, I really make about $1.20 and I still have to drive everywhere and I have no health insurance.
Our Intarweb service rules, but, then, DARPA invented the thing, so I'd hope so.
Our economy ain't doing that hot either, and the so-called recovery is a recovery for those at the top and some stockholders, not most people. The job situation here still sucks.
I'm spending a lot of time hanging out at New World Brewery with the Jobsite folks and trying to find time to play music with Kev, but our schedules both suck, so we don't get to do that much.
And I'm single. Again.
You'll remember reenot, aka Rachel, who is now in Los Angeles at USC doing grad work in biomedical engineering, specifically hf ultrasound. Pretty neat stuff. I was gonna move out to Cali to keep things going after I got out of basic training, but she told me not to. Them's the brakes, I suppose.
I agree with what you are saying about the states...right now I greatly disturbred because Congress just passed legislation that puts Federal mandates on all state Driver's Licenses...meaning Uncle Sam tells every state what has to be on them and there has to be biometric info on it, i.e. retina scan, dental records, etc...its getting real scary here Rob. Oh and even though you asked James, Florida is pretty good. Way to hot in Miami now, where I am, but supposedly cooling down on Sunday.
What scares me is stuff like this has to even get shot down. I mean what happened to individual rights, state's rights even. Our government is no longer speaking for the people. I mean if I take an airline flight to California I have to have my possesions and body searched, and possibly more...yet this year alone four million, yes thats million illegal immigrants will enter our country through Mexico. So why should I have someones fist up my ass at an airport if thousands of people go over into our borders every night. They could have disease, drugs, guns, nukes, hell you name it. But no Bush does nothing about that, we need that cheap labor for his business cronies. I truly believe a civil war is coming or a revolution. When families that five years ago had good jobs and now can't even get a McDonald's job and can't pay their mortgages or have food it will be ugly. This is whats already starting in Ohio. I lived their for over a year and let me tell you the state is dying...watch it closely cause thats coming our way.
But in Ohio they still voted for Bush. I blame Kerry for that. Bush is a good campaigner. I think the Democrats shot themselves in the foot by actually believing that Bush is as stupid as they would like to think. We are now stuck between a rock and a hard place

Federal mandates on licenses.
Can you say highly extraConstitutional? I knew you could. Hell, even Scalia might shoot that one down. At least he hates government consistently.
