Last time I talked to the lawyer guy, I ended up getting pissed off at him. He was an acquaintance of mine, but he was rude on the phone with me. He was probably just being frank, but it irritated me anyway. It wasn't like I was talking to the guy I'd had dinner with a few times. I wanted to avoid talking to him if possible unless it was the best shot at getting the domain back. At this point, I don't know that it is.
I've stalked him pretty well. Found his MySpace and all that by digging around whois records and checking pages of his that are related. In California at least, if you rent an apartment and only have a cell phone, there isn't much more I can expect to find address-wise without paying someone to get the information for me, which isn't worth it. Even my client's son, who suggested the guy to her in the first place, either couldn't get in touch with the old designer or refused to do so for personal reasons.
It's hard to fight someone when they are apathetic about the whole thing.
