So I was watching the History Channel today and this show about Nostradamous came on and holy hell if I wasn't enthralled for a good two hours. Yes, deep inside I have this inner dweeb who gets fucking excited every time Myth Busters comes on, alright? It's fucking crazy what those guys do, and let me tell you, knowing that salsa eats through metal ( Read more... )

I watched part of that, too. It made me think about my friend who reads tarot cards. Then all the other sort of psychic stuff. I agree with you, that any prediction can be made to fit a later event. War is nothing new, and saying "there will be an attack of phenomenal devastation", history only seems to dictate that it isn't so much predicting the future, but stating the obvious that humans can't seem to learn from their mistakes.

If I went to a psychic right now, chances are, they'd tell me I'm going to do another Lifetime Movie of the Week. I don't learn from my mistakes, either.

I'm a bit scared of Lifetime because I'm pretty sure one day I will find a movie that mirrors my life and I'm played by someone frightening. I do watch Golden Girls from time to time, nothing like an old broad to put men in their places.

Myth Busters own my soul a little. Or .. or maybe a lot. Have you ever watched Brainiac on G4?

Brainiac is what happens when you take guys with the same sorts of questions as Myth Busters, pour a few beers down their gullets, and see who can do the most damage. It's sort of a Jackass equivalent, even. Except they answer some of the really important questions. Such as, Do you really lose weight after you shit?, If cell phones are radioactive, can you fry an egg with enough of them in one room?, and so on. It's usually on in the middle of the night, for obvious reasons. I'm a chronic insomniac, so I never miss an episode. It's scientifically-driven, cheap humor.

The only thing that I can think of that would come from the sky in July of 1999 was the JFK Jr plane crash... but the rest of that does not fit. Interesting, to say the least.

Post-script: when he can't even pronounce Hiroshima right

askjhdsjkad THANK YOU. It gets on my last fucking nerve when people pronounce that wrong, I don't even know why. For the umpteenth time, it isn't pronounce "hee-row-shee-muh", damn it! It's one smooth roll of the tongue, damn it damn it damn it!

Sob. Pet peeve, or something.
