Taiaiake Alfred is an obviously educated person, with a different insight on such a complex topic. He was very passionate, emotional, yet very controlled in his writing. He directed this piece to a very large, maybe higher educated audience, as well as a smaller, primary audience; the North American First Nations Peoples.

I too found this a very hard read and am still unsure of what exactly he wanted his readers to take away from it. It would be interesting to know the reaction of the Onkwehonwe if they read it, would they be inspired? I wonder if many First Nation people feel the way Alfred does.
