Last day of work

May 13, 2011 17:17

Well, the new job has run out of money to pay me (rather quickly, this go-around), so the new job has become "the old job", and I'm back in the job-searching business again. Ouch. Not happy. Research money is being hard to come by, regardless of how many worthy research ideas there are in supply.

Job stuff is pretty awful in this day and age. But I'm glad to hear from you.

Good luck in the search for new employment. Hoping to see you at Marcon this month, as per usual?

We'll be at Marcon; memberships are already paid for.

Next year's Marcon will be an issue, because of the Easter conflict. I'm thinking about spearheading a Saturday afternoon filkcircle for those locals who will be singing at "0-dark-hundred hours" in church the next morning, like me, and so can't afford to attend the late night open filks.

I worry a great deal about next year's Marcon, because I don't think the largely childless ConCom really understands how many people won't come due to familial obligations.

While I am local, I am usually obliged to be at my folk's house, or my in-law's, y'know?

I'm Telling Tales Outside of school OVFF concom meetings, but what I was told, as further explanation, was that Marcon was forced by the Hyatt to switch from Memorial Day weekend to make room for the gaming con, and any other possible weekend was also a major price increase. So, I understand now their rock-and-a-hard-place, and now the strategy, as I perceive it, is to find another venue besides the Hyatt that they'll fit in.
