So, I started my first ornament project for the 12 days of Christmas theme today. A heraldic Scottish parrot. Yup, a parrot, not a partridge, at least not yet. My friend, rhiannon_black suggested I could use an old Scottish version of the song and

Actually, a parrot makes much more sense, given the lyrics "Wha learns my carol and carries it away." I've never heard of peacocks learning to emulate speech. They're noisy enough little devils (Santa Fe's Teaching Zoo has a whole bunch of them and we'll be coming up on mating season in another couple months...). Make sure to get loads of pictures.
