At Night Shade!

Jan 06, 2013 20:30

Dead Roads (now officially two words in the title, though remaining one word in the text, go figure) is now available at my publisher's, http://www.nightshadebooks.com/book/deadroads/#.UOoiDrZ59_k . You can, apparently, get it as an E-book too, which is quite thrilling -- all come April 2, 2013, which is not so far away ( Read more... )

Awesomesauce! The e-book links don't seem to be up and running, but if you'll remind us closer to the time, I'd love to order it for my Kindle.

Much good luck with sales!

E-book to come, I guess. The publication date is April 2, but I'll be sure to post stuff closer to the time. Thanks a bunch for your ongoing interest. Makes a girl somewhat weepie.

I'm really looking forward to reading it! This was pretty quick, wasn't it, from when the process began? Happy new year!

I guess it only seems quick, LOL. Between querying agents, editing, my agent pitching it, negotiations, editing...it seems like ages ago that I wrote the damn thing. But once Night Shade picked it up, the rest seems to have gone quickly, yes. For which I'm very thankful.

I've got the book on order from Amazon - paper version because paper is still the bee's knees even if I love my Kindle...
Interesting to hear about your name - that little bit of history that we carry round with us always has a story to tell!

My jury is still out on paper vs. electronic. I do like thumbing through an actual book, and I like being able to loan books to friends, but I sure don't need to EVER move the amount of books in my house EVEREVEREVER again.

Also, names are very important. I think that everyone needs a satisfactory story, either given or one they make for themselves. I'm lucky that my birthname wasn't Helga Dunce (though it has a ring to it, eh?)

I am very pleased with my Hobbit name - Tigerlily Peatfingers. But somehow I doubt I will use that as my pen-name if and when I get published! (Though it's tempting).

And I am never moving house again. Never.

Congratulations!

And oh - that's very interesting. Names - and the connections behind them - can have so much *weight*....

I know, if i ever publish, it will be under my maiden name. That's still who i 'am', despite nearly 27 years of marriage.

Hey, dolly. Yes, I think that names carry a lot of weight, and that it's good to be able to claim what's yours or feel is yours. When I got married, I changed my name. I liked my husband's name more than the one I was carrying around, for one. I wanted everyone in the family to have the same name, for two. But perhaps most importantly, for the first time in my life I was the one in control of what my name was, and so I felt very powerful, doing that. I have friends that have changed their surnames to their mother's maiden names, for example, and they've also felt powerful doing that.

Yes, it is. I *like* my SO's family, mostly, but there is so much drama and crazy and people acting like fools - so 100 percent different than my family - that it feels like....

Publishing under *that* name would give them something they don't deserve. Which seems petty, but...there it is.

Well, i doubt they'd happily embrace a story that includes m/m intimacy, so it's all for the best, really.

*Good to 'see' you - hope your holidays and new year were good!*
:)
