i haven't read those books, though i hear they are wonderful. i read "Ring of bright Water", "Old Yeller" , "Beautiful Joe" and "Black Beauty" and hated animal books after that because they made me cry. Then I discovered "Wind in the Willows", "The Narnia Books", and teh mixture of the two made me want totake care of animals. i think if I hadn't had to do all the math, I woulda been a good vet. Have you ever read a book by Paul Gallico called Thomasina? And I don't mean the disney movie. watch that AFTER you read the book if you have to watch a video. Laurie is the character i am very similar to.
I will look for those books you mentioned. The Youngest Son works at a used bookstore two blocks away. thanks for reminding me of them.

yes, i knew about them and wanted to read them, but i just never got around to it.it iwll be good winter reading as we get months of rain day after day after day
what you wrote and what the person above me in the comments said made me think of that christina rosetich poem, you know? Hurt no living thing, lady bird, butterfly, nor moth with dusty wing, nor grasshopper so slight of leap....
ah. and to add insult to myself, i don't know that poet. i recognize the poem tho. the only christina poet i know is Christina Rosetti who wrote "Goblin Market" and was the sister of one of my favorite painters, Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Thank you.
Hello,I hope you don't mind a stranger popping in. While searching for communities to join I saw your name, and took a glance at your journal and it is very entertaining. If you come back and continue to write I'd like to be able to see what you wrote. I was wondering if I could friend you? You needn't friend me back.
mrs. sorry it took so long to get back to you. i'm changing over wrinting places, had given this up except to check an errant fifteen year old niece, and thank you for enjoying my work. yes, i'll friend you and when i change to my new place, i shall let you know...oh no, i've been away so long i've forgotten how to friend someone. let me know willya and i'll punch the right keys...Robin
dear mrs. mcgillicuddy, in 2008 you wrote me that you enjoyed my work and wanted to friend me and i went away for a long time. i had a heart surgery, some people (most) get cardiac depression)and my meds made me forget things and so, my dear, you blew away into the clouds like a george macDonald charater. I am back. (i hope I have enough friends to make it worthwhile) and i thank you very much for liking my writing. so, yes, we'll give it a try.
it is now 2011 and my near and dear call me Jane. but you'll still have to 'friend' me at robin-rule1
PS i take lots of cardiac meds and my spelling has become atrocious and impossible. forgive me.
