Question: can you back out if the "random person" turns out to be someone you know (and like)?

No. You have to make the decision before you know who the person is. One you have pressed the button you can't undo it.

does this make me an asshole? eller July 20 2001, 01:26:20 UTC
let's see, drunk drivers kill people at random for nothing, no money at all...hmmm, hahaha, I would totally do it. And the whole while I would be hoping for it to be several people that I would love to strangle. Does this make me bad? I mean, it's not because of the money at all..I would do this free. I would just use the money to bride some cops into killing some more people that I don't like.

that's not the point robinbanks July 20 2001, 09:37:50 UTC
The question isn't "would you kill someone?" but "would you kill someone in the world at random for money?" You wouldn't get to pick who you killed. Chances are high that when you pushed the button you would off some Indian worker or Chinese peasant. The odds of one of your enemies here in Louisville coming up are astronomically high -- I'd say maybe four billion to one?

So reconsider your answer in that light. The question is not about your willingness to commit murder (none of us question that!) but your willingness to murder a total stranger for profit.
