Hoke that works

It's the hokiest thing in the world. Ethel Merman sings "There's No Business Like Show Business" on stage, and just before the last note, she turns and spots her long lost son stage left, goes "Ah!" in shock, but true to the title of the song (and the movie), she turns back to the audience, belts out the last note and finishes it before she rushes ( Read more... )

Boy, do you love Donald O'Connor! That Johnny Ray "Do You Believe" number gave me gas though.

I missed it the first time around, so I went back to hear it again. I hated it. I hate his voice. I even hate his teeth. He doesn't swing. Not much of a voice. And that pseudo-bluesy shtick makes me wanna throw up. Oops. Sorry. I hope you're not a huge Johnnie Ray fan. But you did ask. And he pretty much sucked.

hmm..

the first time I heard of Ethel Merman, was when she was a guest on the Muppet Show!

And I just watched that episode this evening!
