Good news, bad news: Day 7 (probably)
I am now gainfully employed in Corona Del Mar, Orange County. I will be living in a house that caters to people coming out of rehab who aren't quite ready to go back to their regular lives yet. Thomas is hating California by comparison. You want to know why Hawaii is the last state they made, because they got it right and they didn't see how they could outdo themselves. The food of Hawaii no longer thrills me as it once did. I take this as a good thing, since it will make leaving that much easier. My friends who were in some distress upon my arrival seem to have recovered and found a new rhythm for their lives. One less thing for me to worry about when I leave here. The life I wish I had: Day 11 (or 12 since two minutes to midnight)
So I'm kickboxing. No, mom, not in a ring. I think we both know I'm not hungry enough for that. If anyone doesn't know what that means read "Hajime no Ippo." I've started taking a class in Puck's Alley, which is not nearly as ominous as it sounds. When I'm not there I'm going to the gym or recovering from one of those two activities. It's my birthday. I walked 23 miles to celebrate or I just like walking in the rain or I thought I'd give masochism a shot. How long is a marathon? I can check, you don't have to tell me. Being back in Hawaii feels right. The food is good. I have friends and family here. San Francisco: Last Day
I made it. Six months. Two and a half jobs. A crash course in Spanish from a Guatemalan janitor. Passed up sex with not one but two strippers. Went on two gay dates. Friendship still intact. San Francisco: Day 178
I can jump rope. That's something I couldn't do six months ago. Hours without internet access, stuck in a gym overnight I finally found the time to develop my rhythm and coordination.
