Stiff the Snock

A few days ago, when I was going to be feeding the hellhounds dinner at the cottage because Peter was playing bridge, Peter said, Do you have enough stock?  Since Peter’s the one makes the stock, the stock flows in a mews-to-cottage direction.  And stock is crucial to dog dinner.  I said, I think so, but it may be getting a bit old.  He said, you’ ( Read more... )

Ouch. Those are very, very lucky dogs...

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling like death on toast. May you sleep better tonight!

Thanks for the posts over the last few days. I was in stitches over some of your desciptions.

I am very deeply impressed that you can write a coherent blog entry (including footnotes), among other things, after only .072 hours of sleep. Is this something that professional writers have to do, to achieve Master level and get the full set of ceremonial regalia? :)

Further evidence that hellhounds are not, in fact, dogs. Zoological science has thus far yet to come up with a plausible alternative classification, but . . .

Oh my, you have my sympathy. If your vets have not suggested it yet, and if you do antibiotics at all, metronidazole is a godsend for diarrhea--it gets many bugs that might be there, including giardia, firms up the stool quite quickly, and is anti-inflammatory in the gut so works to calm things down. I have it on hand always and especially when on the road with dogs.

After our year and a half with the cancer fairy and lupus, I got dog health insurance from the get-go for the Alpha Bitch. The plan I have doesn't require ongoing booster vaccinations (and the American Veterinary Medical Assn. protocol now recommends three-year boosters, not annual, anyway), so over here at least the requirements aren't always the same from one company to the next.

I'm glad you were spared ringing after no sleep and I will include you and your hellhounds in my candle-lighting. We have been through diagnostic hell and I know how awful that combination of worry and frustration is.

LUPUS? Oh glory. I know more about that than I want to because it's another of those auto immune things, and there was some question a while back if I had it. I don't. I'm grateful for the occasional LARGE favour.

""† And we’re not eligible for insurance. In the first place, any insurance company is going to exclude gastro-intestinal for life, and then what’s the point? Even if the current bane turned out after all to be a simple allergy, GI is kind of a lot of any creatures that eats, and I don’t get a break on the premiums or anything. Also, I won’t vaccinate my dogs again till a blood test shows a drop in antibodies, and insurance companies insist on yearly vacs.""

Would it be worth opening a hellhound bank account and paying in the amount you'd pay for an insurance policy each month, so that when a vet bill pops up the money is there, but without the hassle and small print of an actual insurance policy?

And I hope Darkness is better soon, and that Chaos STAYS well, and you get some sleep tonight!!!
