Ratbagged

I Create a Verb.  And an Adjective.  I’m sure many other people have created it before, but today I create it:  ratbagged, to be bewildered, disappointed and laid low by events beyond one’s control.  A bit like sandbagged only twitchier, with nasty gnawing rodent teeth.

In the first place, the weather.  It’s been one of those uber-ugly ( Read more... )

First of all - thank you!

I was feeling rather dull - and now I'm feeling cheerful; so thank you again! You have an Absolute Talent for making misery - well, hilarious...

My favourite was the cat-remark (of course) and it is so true! My cat wants a door into summer - or rather spring; except she seems rather intrigued by snow (we live in a flat on the sixth floor and as she is very, very careful she can go out on the balcony and peep down the little gap between the balcony floor & side). I sometimes call her Victoria Meldrew because of the outraged "I don't belieeeeve it"-look. Also of course "What bad service - is this the thanks I get?"

Oh - I don't eat breakfast either - just a cup of tea - I don't seem to be hungry when I get up; I haven't for (more than twenty) years...

I didn't hear Tristan on the computer tonight because I couldn't get to the computer before now (2:00 a.m.). Given the quality of computer speakers, it was probably no real loss. And I made pizzas, which were good, so there was compensation ( ... )

I want more hours in the day.

Won't work. You can only concentrate for so many of them, and you can only sleep for so many in a row, After due consideration, I have decided I would like to slip in two extra days into the week on a flexible basis. Just think. Go to work two days, have a day off, work three days, three-day weekend. I could deal with banks and the likes during the week. Never shop on a Saturday with the rest of the world. No, extra days is the way to go.

I am not ratbagged, but sandbagged most definitely. I was looking forward to a quiet weekend, lolling around in bed with a book, putting a few more CDs onto my hard drive (because the 2000 or so I've already ripped aren't enough - let alone the several hundred that have been electronically purchased), going out for a walk to photograph the local graffiti, or even getting myself to a couple of exhibitions - still lamenting the wine show, although now much improved. And then out of the blue I get landed with four translations for the weekend, one legal of 25 pages due Sunday lunchtime (Why? What are they going to do with it Sunday lunchtime? Do lawyers work at that time? No!) and the rest Monday morning. Currently having breakfast in front of the computer and girding my loins.... At least the weather is grey and cold. That's some comfort when you don't have pets to take out. And there is the modern dance recital this evening ( ... )

I see those senior moments only affect certain areas of the brain. The rosemary focaccia will be upcoming in the two versions, untopped and topped, as soon as I have the time to type it all out.
