Thirty nine days and thirty nine nights and counting

GODS, DEMIGODS, AND SMALL THINGS THAT LIVE UNDER TOADSTOOLS, I AM SO SICK OF THIS FRICKING WEATHER.  Last night walking, or rather sloshing, home from tower practice-which takes all of about a minute and a half-I was thinking, if I had any food in the house I’d ring Peter and say I wasn’t coming.  Levering somnolent hellhounds out of their warm ( Read more... )

LOL! Yes! There were days, in Maine, when I had to CARRY Rowan, my first whippet, out *through* the drifts to somewhere she could pee. . . .

Ohyesohyesohyes! Our backyard looked like that for a while, too! Right up the patio door so it covered 1/4 of it. I haven't seen a winter like this in a long, long time.

*********After a little roux in my soup I’m a whole lot less likely to go whacko later on and start chewing on furniture legs and hellhounds^, culminating in making an entire Green & Black’s bar disappear.

That's my feeling about dark chocolate. I eat it as a prophylactic against (yes, the evil eye) and pms, depression, boredom, and those evenings when you need *something* and snogging is just not going to happen(:

Oh no. Now I need some chocolate. And we don't currently have any.

Damn.

Chocolate as prophylactic! YESSSSSS! :) Actually, you're right. And I think it's heart attacks they've decided it (dark choc) protects you against too. :) Heavens, woman, what are you DOING not having an emergency chocolate stash???

** I had a lecture from Peter today at the appalling hours I am getting to bed. Tra la la la la. The answer is to post earlier so he has no way of checking.

Oh how I laughed - thank you!

I assume there are other passionate Flanders and Swann aficionados out there?

What with them, Beyond the Fringe and Monty Python, for a long time I believed that the only comedy worth having was British.††† On At the Drop of a Hat at the end of the above Song of the Weather Flanders says:

††† Okay, Stan Freeburg. And later I discovered Firesign Theatre.

Yes and yes, although I've never really gotten into Firesign, as my wretched baby brother played them to death.

*Sends vibes for better weather; or, hows about you send some of that rain back our way?*

*Hugs you* Maybe we can just blow it further east? It's bound to get back to me eventually, that way, and it'll be out of your hair.

I'm hoping your hellhounds are eating well, so they'll grow big and strong, so they won't blow away.

I'm not exactly happy with the current weather, either. It's a big wet. And a bit windy.

Your weather sounds awful. It makes me remember summers in my grandmother's house in the Lake District when we wore our winter clothes every day, it didn't stop raining once and the fire was lit at 9 in the morning at the very latest ( ... )

Yes, I'd forgotten Tom Lehrer! We introduced both of the daughters to the "Elements Song" when they took high school chemistry - my elder daughter actually sang it for her teacher, hee.

There's a wonderful flash animation someone made of the song - let me see if the Google can find it for me.

Ah, here it is: The Elements Song
