Sunlight

Yes!  A sighting!  There really is a big blinding-bright thing in the sky that makes day like day instead of like night!  I thought it was a tribal myth!*

It’s particularly shocking, this sun thing, in the middle of the night.  I did go to bed early** but the alarm still went off like half past midnight.***  It seemed to me very ( Read more... )

I looked out of the window this afternoon in Hertfordshire and the sky was blue! With fluffy clouds! And sunshine that was intermittently warm, at least when the wind dropped. No rain! What is the world coming to?

I like the song Cold Kisses myself. It has some great images.

*Most* of his stuff has great images. It's a big part of the reason he's so amazing. None of these shabby lyrics with guitar riffs as disguise for him. (And yes to Cold Kisses too.)

You'd also have to buy new shirts.

Some sun in the Med today, at least this corner of it, with cloudy moments and some cloud cover, winds high from the East. Rain forecast for the following week. You sound as if your day was great, and though you missed the "rosy-fingered daughter" that is the dawn, you did wonderful things in between. If you feel Homeric, I feel Kiplingesque "Boots-boots-boots-boots movin' up an' down again..." The moment one translation is out the door another lands on the threshold, and another, and another... I am sure I will be grateful when the paychecks come in and when I pay may annual pilgrimage to London to see plays and plays and plays (currently crossing fingers like mad that a few I fancy currently on will still be playing in August), but right at this moment I want a few days of no more translating. Sunlight! Huzzah! I'm in Chicago and we've gotten a smattering of days of sunshine in the past few weeks. It's been so lovely to get to take a leisurely walk or have some natural light. Come on Spring!
