Alternative Banana Bread

This entry comes to you via the wonders of modern homeopathy.  There’s apparently Something Going Round, the way somethings do, and I’ve had the uncomfortable impression that it’s been eyeing me thoughtfully for the last few days, contemplating its next move.  And then it was Peter who woke up this morning feeling icky.  He however is feeling ( Read more... )

Get well soon. Go to bed at a reasonable hour. Keep eating soup--it's curative, I think. I made a big batch of chicken noodle today and it was wonderful. Not that your broccoli and pea soup sounds less...appetizing.

I use a pasty blender to mash the bananas--but a potato masher makes a lot more sense.

Hope you will feel better soon! Banana bread is surely a cure-all; it's got potassium, you know :D. Will definitely have to try this recipe.

If I were home and could get the book, I'd post another banana bread recipe that I make with whole-wheat flour, yogurt, and not too much sugar, so it practically qualifies as health food. I have to declare my intention to make banana bread well ahead of time, or they don't stick around long enough to get black (my husband really likes bananas). I made some gingery molasses cookies with rum to take on this trip but I'm not that enthralled with the rum--orange juice, now, might be better. They are interesting cookies that contain no eggs and have a chewy and non-crumbly texture, which makes them OK for eating in the car, so I will probably put some effort into improving the recipe.

I hope the Thing Going Around decides to keep going and leaves you alone. It's adding insult to injury to get one of those in the spring. May you feel better soon and have more sunshine in the garden. (I was just thinking today that Chaucer must have been laughing up his sleeve when he wrote about the "drought of March".)

Well, post those cookies one way or another, please! I'd probably like them in their present state. And definitely the banana bread!

Chaucer had a very *modern* sense of humour, one has often noted!!

How is the PUPPY?

Okay, this is UTTERLY random, but I came across the following link while researching moose distribution (long story): http://www.flickr.com/photos/mccreath/1810776262/

It made me laugh. It's possible it entertained mostly because of the randomness ("Well, it IS related to moose distribution.... But that sure isn't what I was expecting!!"); however, the other people that I showed it to were also amused, so I figured I would post it here for you and your readers to look at.

(If nothing else, I can assure you that it won't take more than 1-3 min. to read and it doesn't lead to anything else interesting, so it's not a huge time drain. But was funny.)

*Snork.* I missed that in SUNSHINE somehow; and there would be moose around that lake. Hmmmm.
