Tales of a Very Bad Dog Owner

I probably shouldn’t even be telling this one, but it’s so striking, to me at least,* about . . . well, dogs, and human frailty.  Also that Chaos is nuts, even as sighthounds go.

I have not been keeping you up to date about the hellhounds’ latest cycle of digestive mayhem.  I think I told you about taking them to the (standard) vet a ( Read more... )

Oh you poor honey, and poor hellhounds, what a bummer of a time it must have been this last week, what with everything going on, and on, and... Warm virtual hugs coming your way, together with a candle being lighted.

And you most likely don't want another 1 or 2!! (It may involve a lot more arnica and shoulders like a swimmer.... ;) )

********** LOL! Yes, and then I'd just waste MORE food when NONE of them wanted to eat . . .

Oh, okay. I bet hellhounds and ferrets would have LOTS of fun together. (After all, lurchers and ferrets work together . . . it's in their blood . . . the country newspaper I keep telling you about has a 'send in your photos' page and there are lots of silly photos of dogs and ferrets. You do of course have to take your dog aside and say, look, I know that you're into catching small scampering things, but NOT FERRETS, okay?)

Oh you poor thing! Racks on the blind spot are deadly and though you know they are there, you still hit them. And then hitting an already sore spot! Ouch. So glad they finally ate their supper after all that ( ... )

Dear lord. If penguins or eels had been involved, this might almost have been me. :) I'm so sorry.

Could be that Chaos just wants food with dirt in it. Maybe you should be feeding him al fresco--dump the food outside with the floor sweepings, add a few ants, some moss, and maybe an old shoe or something. Maybe he's an epicure of the dog world...

************ SNOOOORK. Well, at least, when *you* sympathise, I know you REALLY sympathise.

************* Gak. You could be on to something.

Your hellhounds know you love them. I think Chaos eating and Darkness washing your face is as much apology as they can manage, and it's a good show of their love for you.

************* I admit I was kind of surprised. I get so used to being Boss Mama.

We all get frustrated and upset with our pets, no matter how much we try not to. (I had a night last night where I swore I wasn't going to let the ferrets out for more than a little bit every day because they were misbehaving so much.

************** How can a ferret misbehave? It's not like you've trained them to sit-stay and they run off!

So far I'm a big liar.)

************ Good! :)

But they understand in their not understanding way. They love you no matter what because you take care of them and keep them as safe and healthy as you can manage.

************ I think there must be some of that in there. I'm usually busy hyperventilating about the blind way they TRUST you and expect you to FIX anything and MAKE IT OKAY.
