Or "badly structured, irritating and counterproductive".
I'm sympathetic to Bill Maher and Larry Charles' intentions but not their execution. Unless they intended atheists to be seen as massive douchebags of course, then they succeeded admirably.
The catholics came across quite well. The gay guy was given some respect by the end. The douche bags were the ones who gave Maher the ammo he couldn't resist using.
I thought the Catholic came across as a massive hypocrite (although a funny one.) If you watch Maher's show (which I'm a big fan of) Alan Cumming made a very good point about the hypocrisy of Catholicism to PJ O'Rourke and the Mayor of San Francisco (both Catholics) in the show two weeks ago.
I thought by the end of the film Maher was demonstrating the self-righteousness and arrogance that he was accusing the others of. Of course, it didn't help that he consistently chose soft targets. I would have liked to see him up against the Rev Jeremiah Wright, for example.
I much preferred John Safran Vs God and at the end of Religulous we were debating sending Maher a copy.
