This is a fill for a prompt. It has a mini fill already but I kinda fell in love with the idea of this. I do ask that nobody links this back to the prompt or ANY communities because I end up getting panic attacks if I haven't finished this and it's listed over there. The prompt is located
HERE and I did borrow a few ideas from a few fics I have read in the past Heartbreak/Safe for one particular part. And I did still some of the lines stright out of Glee.
This is my second attempt at writing Klaine. So if you do end up commenting please be nice.
Also, this is unbeta'd.

Chapter One
Kurt looks around nervously as he slips in the large wooden door; the muffled thud as the door closes behind him makes him jump. He creeps towards the center of the room where a large staircase is at; he looks around, the silence surrounding him as he begins to climb up the stairs. A loud piercing bell sounds and Kurt pauses on the stairway, eyes wide behind his sunglasses. A sea of boys in navy blazers come rushing down the stairs, Kurt grips the handrail so he doesn’t get swept away with the crowd. He still has to find the Warbler’s, and he has no idea where to even start to look. Puck’s comment, which angered him enough to actually spy on the Warbler’s, about fitting in with these boys is woefully wrong, his imitation uniform is close but not close enough that he doesn’t fear being caught. The hair on the back of his neck prickle and he takes his sunglasses off to see what could of triggered that sort of response from his body. He takes a deep breath and reaches out to sense what it could be, when he turns as softly says, “Excuse Me.” There standing in front of him is a boy dressed like every other boy but his eyes… his eyes remind him of autumn and almost steal his breath away. He’s vaguely aware of the other boy speaking and sticking his hand out, he stares at it for a moment before gripping it and says, “Kurt Hummel. What exactly is going on?” The other boy smiles and Kurt feels just a little weak kneed, he starts mentioning the Warbler’s putting on a performance, Kurt just stares at him more, ‘Everyone’s racing to hear them?’ Kurt’s mind is racing when he blurts out “You mean the Glee Club is cool here?” he breaks eye connect with the other boy when that slips out, he hears the words “Legendary” and “Shortcut” when the next thing he knows the other boy has grabbed his hand and taken off. The position is odd, his arm crossed in front of his body, and Kurt’s not comfortable touching anyone, let alone cute boys that don’t know he’s gay. He looks around at the hallway they run down, the walls are lined with artwork, classical artwork, on the other wall there are large windows every few feet. Most of them the curtains are closed but the few that are open show a massive green field with trees littered along the edges, Kurt longs to go see what that field is like, even with the harsh winds blowing. Kurt practically smacks into the other boy’s back when they stop in front of a doorway, Kurt gulps as it’s closed behind them, he grips his messenger bag as he looks around. ‘Oh Zeus they are going to notice my uniform doesn’t match,’ it seems as if every boy is looking at them, he mumbles something to the other boy about sticking out.
“Well next time, don’t forget your jacket New Kid.” The boy says before sliding his bag to the wall, he plays with the collar on Kurt’s jacket making Kurt’s breath catch before smiling at him, “Now, if you’ll excuse me.”
And the boy is walking away, Kurt shrinks into himself eyeing for the fastest route out of here because this is it, he’s been found out, when he hears someone singing. His head whips up and the boy he met, whose name he can’t even remember, is standing in front of this group of people and they’re singing. And… and that other boy is looking straight at Kurt, Kurt feels his muscle relaxing, he’s standing up taller and a smile spreads across his face. He feels… he doesn’t even know what the word could be but that boy up there is making him feel nice… wanted… like he matters. Kurt is shocked at his rush of feelings, he’s used to falling hard and fast over boys but this is kind of ridiculous, even when Finn stood up for him the feelings didn’t come this fast nor this strong; and what is going on with him. He can’t seem to help himself as his smile grows and he’s practically grinning, it feels different… odd. He can’t remember the last time he’s grinned like this, he smiles and lies to his dad and friends about school going alright but this, even if he can’t explain it, gods this feels good to be this happy. The other boy’s words seem to wash over him, surround him, cocoon him in an invisible force of warmth and Kurt just soaks it up, still staring at the boy with the autumn eyes.
And then it’s gone. His smile dims as the feelings let up not disappear but instead of them just continuing to grow it’s like they reached their limit. Kurt watches the other boy as three guys walk up to him, one of them is poking him in the chest looking angry as the other two seem almost sad at him. A gesture is made towards Kurt and he pales, his smile gone and he begins to try remember how to get out of there, Kurt just wants to escape and get to his car and cry… why, why does this always happen to him? The boy, the one that was nice and held his hand, looks straight at Kurt as he begins to panic, he takes a step towards Kurt and Kurt backs into a tall boy, a hand is placed on his shoulder and he flinches into himself. He never should have listened to Puck, he’s going to die, the nice cute boy is not only going to break his heart but is going to kill him. His eyes are beginning to water and Kurt starts apologizing, “I’m Sorry, so sorry, I-I didn’t mean anything by it. I won’t tell them anything, please just please don’t hurt me. I’m sorry. I’m sorry, it won’t happen again. Please. Please, you have to let me go. I-I’m all that my father has left, don’t do this to him, his heart can’t handle it. Please, please…” The words tumble from his lips as he shrinks further into himself, bracing for the hurt. And then a hand is gripping his hand, it’s soft and gentle; he opens his eyes only to find the nice boy kneeling in front of him. He’s looking down at Kurt and reaches a hand down, Kurt flinches away from it as it softly touches his cheek, wiping away his tears.
“Kurt, I’m not going to hurt you.” The boy says, Kurt looks up and around the room. It has emptied and Kurt and the other boy are the only ones left. Kurt begins to calm down, the other boy is making Kurt feel ok, he’s… he’s humming and Kurt feels like everything is ok, everything will be fine as long as this boy continues to hum. A soft creak makes Kurt jump and one of the boys from earlier is back, it’s the African American boy that went up to talk to the nice boy, his friend was the one that seemed angry at the boy with the autumn eyes. Kurt watches him with wide eyes as he walks towards him, the boy is carrying two cups of… something, coffee maybe? “Thanks David,” the nice boy says, “I’ll talk to the council later, alright?”
The boy, David, just grins and says, “Sure thing Blaine,” he pats him once on the shoulder and walks out of the room, gently closing the door as he leaves.
Blaine, the nice boy with autumn eyes, hands Kurt one of the cups, it fills his hands with warmth. Kurt looks between it and Blaine, confused on what exactly is happening and what is going to happen to him, he stares into Blaine’s eyes trying to figure it out.
“It’s Hot Chocolate, it always makes me feel better I thought it might help. It’s safe to drink Kurt, you’re safe here.” Kurt brings the cup up to his mouth and takes a small sip, he feels the warmth spread through his body, his muscles relax, his tiredness just washes off; it makes him feel like he’s father is hugging him, that he’s going to take care of everything. Blaine gently leads him over to some couches before having him sit down; he sits next to Kurt and watches him as he takes another sip. A few minutes of silence is all that’s needed before Blaine slowly grabs Kurt’s hand, Kurt looks between Blaine and his hand but he doesn’t feel like anything bad is about to happen, he just feels…safe. “Kurt, do you want to talk about what happened? Would you tell me what made you reacted like this? I know we just met but Kurt…Please… let me in.”
For the first time since all the bullying started happening, Kurt wants to tell what has happened to him. It starts off with a simple, “I’m the only kid out at my school.” But then it grows, he tells Blaine what it was like growing up in Lima, how no one ever understood him, how he has always been picked on, how he never has fitted in, even in the group of misfits that make up New Directions ,he still doesn’t fit in. He tells him about the pee balloons, about being tossed into dumpsters and shoved into lockers, about his lawn furniture being nailed to his roof, about being beaten up and having to cover it up, about how the week before someone graffiti his mother’s grave, about how even when he’s father was in the hospital it didn’t stop, it never stops, no matter what people still call and tell him he’s going to burn in hell, people still spray paint his house and throw bricks into the windows, people still treat him like he’s the scum of the earth. He admits that if his venture into “playing straight” would of yielded any results he would have faked it to get out of that town alive. But he can’t, he can’t even fake it to make them leave him alone, nothing has changed since he’s come out, it’s always been this bad. He has tears streaming down his face as he continues to the last of his tale, “And there’s this one boy who just makes it his mission to make my life a living hell. He goes out of his way to make things worse for me and I just don’t know what to do anymore.” Kurt looks up from his empty cup to look at the other boy.
Blaine’s eyes are moist and his hands are clenched into fists, Kurt watches him take a deep breath and forces his body to relax, he places a hand lightly on Kurt’s shoulder and looks into his eyes. “Kurt, you don’t deserve that, I... there’s scholarships here for kid’s that have bad cases and to be honest you could get one, I know a few kids that have gotten them in the past and as long as you get good grades they would pay for you to come here. We have a zero tolerance policy Kurt; you’d never have to worry about anything like that if you went here.” Kurt bites his lip as he thinks about it, “How about you at least tell your dad about it? He seems like he could help Kurt.”
Kurt shakes his head, “His heart, you don’t understand he can’t take the stress, it’d… it’d kill him to find out this was happening to me.”
“Just think about it Kurt. I’ll tell you what. How about we swap numbers and if… if it stays this bad then give me a call. Maybe if they see that you have an ally they won’t bother you as much.” Blaine digs through his bag before pulling out his phone and hands it to Kurt, “I know we just met but I’d like to help and… to be honest I’d like to get to know you better.”
“I’d like that. Something about you just seems to… calm me down. I- I usually don’t act like this but. I feel as if I don’t have to put up a front with you.” Kurt says as he put in his number to Blaine’s phone, Blaine has already handed back his phone when Kurt finishes with his confession.
“Well in that case, I might have something for you.” Kurt watches as he opens a different flap of his bag and pulls out a large white envelope, he sorts through it for a few seconds before pulling out something that is 8x10. “I uh… I have a spare one of these and if you want it.” He gives Kurt the paper, only it’s not a piece of paper, it’s a photo, a school photo from the looks of it.
“You’re girlfriend won’t mind?” Kurt asks before he can stop himself.
Blaine wrinkles his nose, and shakes his head, “Nope, no girlfriend, I’m actually single and if I wasn’t I can safely say I wouldn’t be dating a girl.”
“Oh.” Kurt squeaks, “I didn’t… I mean you seem so…” Kurt takes a deep breath and smiles up at Blaine, “I’d love to have it then.” He gently places it in his French binder and slides it back into his bag. He notices the sun getting closer to setting, “I should… I should go, I still have to drive back to Lima and I uh I don’t want to be late; my father tends to worry if I’m late. It uh was nice meeting you Blaine. I… I hope to talk to you soon.”
Blaine stands and hugs Kurt gently, he whispers into Kurt’s ear “Please think about it Kurt. And text me when you’ve made it home safe, ok?” He takes a step back and Kurt nods once and then heads out the door. Blaine has a chance to sink back down onto the couch and take a deep breath before the door opens again, he doesn’t even open his eyes as three boys walk in. “I’m sorry you guys, it was completely unintentional, I’ve never done that before, you guys know that.”
“Blaine if you can’t keep it under wraps we can’t have you perform any solos at the competition.” The Asian boy says.
“I know, I know Wes. I don’t know what happened it was just I couldn’t help but try to charm him, it wasn’t everyone just Kurt.” Blaine replies while pinching the bridge of his nose.
“It’s fine this time but don’t let it happen again, we’ll be watching your performances a lot more closely from now on.” The shorter boy says.
“I understand, it was my screw up. I’m sorry you guys, whatever you feel is necessary go for it.”
Then David steps forward, “Is he going to be ok, Blaine? I’ve seen people get blasted by other people’s powers before but that… he had a breakdown when he bumped into Flint. That’s… that’s not normal. And even if Thad and Wes are right with you screwing up, it doesn’t explain everything.”
Blaine looks between the three of them, before hunching over on himself, “From what he told me… his reaction makes every sense in the world. I don’t… I don’t want to say what he told me because he even admitted to me that he never tells people what’s going on but it’s bad… it’s bad enough that I think he could get that scholarship to get into here.”
Thad looks confused as he says, “Wait, you mean his freak out had nothing to do with you using your powers from Orpheus on him?”
“No! I mean I thought that’s what happened too but no, he only seemed to calm down when I was using them, and then whatever you put in that coco David helped too. Honestly he wasn’t freaked about that at all.”
The three other boys look at Blaine carefully; they lean in closely to whisper to one another before addressing Blaine.
“We’re going to keep an eye on any other interactions you have with that boy Blaine. I don’t trust him; something about him just irks me.” Wes says before turning around to leave.
Thad steps forward as Wes leaves the room, “He is from the other show choir Blaine, just… watch out, ok?” And with that he’s leaving Blaine and David alone.
David looks at Blaine closely; he crosses the room and sits down next to him. “It’s not that they don’t trust you Blaine, it’s just this is the first time something like this has happened and it’s with a competitor, we worry, that’s all.”
Blaine places his face in his hands and groans, “I know David but I just… something about him just calls to me, you know.”
David looks over at his friend puzzled, “Why don’t you tell me about him? Maybe how you feel towards him? We might be able to figure out why.”
Blaine sighs and leans back onto the couch, he rubs his forehead before throwing his hands up into the air, “Sure, why not. I’m as confused about this as everyone else is.” David reaches over and gently pats Blaine’s shoulder. “He’s just… his name is Kurt and god I just want protect him all the time. I mean what he’s going through at school is just… fuck. I want to go down there and hurt every bastard that has ever laid a hand on his porcelain skin, I’m pretty sure if I did the whole town would be in the hospital though! I mean it’s not just the students, its adults too! He said a teacher tried to flunk him once for no reason and the only thing that stopped them was the crazy cheerleader coach down there. I mean I know I had it kinda bad when I came out freshmen year but I came here and even then it wasn’t until I came out that people started up on me, Kurt says this has been happening for as long as he can remember! I mean what kind of person treats a kid like that, just because he’s a little different. And it’s not like he can hide his perfect skin, or his eyes that just are the prettiest shade of blue, green, grey. You saw him! He’s like… fuck an angel or something. His skin is just… it’s so soft, and pale and fucking perfect, Honestly I’m afraid that if he shows more skin how battered it might be, he’s constantly shoved into things or pushed down or thrown into fucking dumpsters! Really who the fuck does that, fuck. And his eyes, you might have not seen them but they just shift colors. I think I could stare at them all day and still not know what color they are. At first I thought they were blue but then they looked greyer and I swear they have green in them. They need to make up a color for that because it is the most wonderful color I’ve ever seen. And his hair, it looks so soft and silky and I just want to run my hands through it. And his body, shit I mean, he’s just so thin and lithe, and I can just imagine how graceful he is. And fuck he’s just so beautiful I… I don’t know what to do. I feel nervous around him, and I know I just met him but god I just want to grab onto those hips and”
“OhhhKay! That’s over sharing Blaine.” David says quickly, he tugs at his color and looks slightly uncomfortable, “So from what I got from that is that you think he’s hot, you think his life sucks right now and you have a strange urge to… protect him?”
Blaine thinks about it for a moment before nodding, “Yea, sounds about right.”
David seems to mull this over for a few minutes, “Well, I don’t see anything wrong with that. You like him, and I don’t really trust why you like him but there’s no reason not to trust him at the moment. So go for it. Try to protect him and take him out on a couple of dates to take his mind off of things. You never know what will happen until you try and I seriously doubt he’d mind another person in his corner.”
“Yeah, but what about Wes and Thad? They seemed really upset about all of this… I’ve never seen Wes so mad.” Blaine says as he rubs his face in frustration.
“Give them some time. Thad is just following Wes’ lead and you know how crazy Wes can get around computations. I wouldn’t worry about it too much… And honestly Blaine, what’s more important the council being a tad huffy for a few days or helping out that Kurt kid?”
“Kurt, hands down.” Blaine says surprisingly quickly.
“See, if you think he’s worth it go for it. Now let’s get to the cafeteria, I think they’re still serving dinner.” David stands up and heads to the door, he looks back at Blaine and says “You coming?”
Blaine stands up, “Yeah” and joins David.
“I want your bad roma”
Blaine snatches his cell up and quickly answers it, much to the disappointment many other Warbler’s voice about Blaine ruining their practice.
“Kurt? What’s wrong? Isn’t glee going on right now?”
Heavy breathing is all that Blaine hears over the line.
“Kurt? Kurt baby, you gotta answer me. What happened? Are you ok? Do… do I need to call the cops or some help?”
Ragged sobs come through the phone, making a few of the Warbler’s back away from Blaine uneasily.
“Kurt! Where are you? I’ll get you help.”
“Blaine” Kurt says between gulps of air as he continues to sob.
“Kurt, I’m leaving Dalton now, where should I go?” Blaine is already racing down the halls of Dalton to his car. He may get in trouble for leaving Warbler practice but nothing is more important than Kurt.
“I… I’m in the locker room. I’m *hiccup* I’m hiding in the old equipment closet. Can- can you get here soon Blaine?”
“Kurt baby, I’ll be there in 30 minutes, maybe sooner if I can speed more. I’m already out of the school parking lot. Is that… is that soon enough? Do I need to call help to get there sooner? I can call them rig?
“NO! Don’t… don’t leave me.” Kurt cries out before beginning to sob again.
“ok, ok, Kurt… are you safe?”
“I… they don’t go in here. They shouldn’t find me if I’m quiet after the…” a loud bell is heard in the background, “oh god, oh god they’re gonna come in here now, oh god Blaine… What… oh god I don’t want to die.”
“Kurt baby, what can I do to calm you down? You need to be quiet right now.”
“S-Sing to me? Please?” Kurt whispers as a door is opened loudly.
Blaine shoves the door closed and he begins to run towards the red double doors. “Kurt baby, I’m here. I’m going up some stairs from the student parking lot. I think, I think I passed the lunch area and it looks like I’m by the library now. Where… Kurt baby, where should I go?”
“I- I don’t know… Blaine. I don’t know!” Kurt cries into the phone.
“Kurt baby, take a deep breath. Listen to my voice and try to calm down.” Blaine says softly before he starts to hum again, it seemed to work in the car. He forces his powers to start again.
After a verse he stops and softly says “Kurt, where do I need to go to find you?”
“Go… go left, you need to go through the next hallway then um, go down the stairs and the uh, the locker rooms are on the right. I’m- I’m in the back there’s …. There’s… Blaine?”
“I’m almost there sweetheart. Just hang on, ok?” Blaine says as he runs down the halls.
Kurt’s able to hear Blaine’s heavy breathe as he grabs onto a handrail and practical jumps down the last flight of stairs. His breath catches as he worries that Blaine might have hurt himself.
“I’m fine Kurt, don’t worry.” Blaine says as he pushes open the locker room door. He calls out softly, “Kurt?” And heads towards the back of the locker room.
A door slams open and Blaine turns to face where the sound came from. The first thing he sees is Kurt stumbling out of the small closet looking awful. Tear tracks glisten on his face as he throws himself at Blaine and latches onto him tightly. Blaine stumbles back from the force of Kurt, his arms automatically wrap around Kurt’s waist. He slowly lowers both of them to the floor and as soon as he is sitting down he has a lapful of Kurt, he lightly places a hand on Kurt’s head to guide Kurt to rest his head against his chest. This just starts a whole new batch of tearful sobs. Kurt is crying so hard he can’t catch his breath. Blaine takes a second to consider if he should try to talk Kurt down or not. Before he makes a decision, he finds himself singing softly.
“And I’d give up forever to touch you
‘Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You’re the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be
And I don’t want to go home right now.”
Kurt is actually taking breathes of air and he slowly relaxes in Blaine’s grip, Blaine continues on singer softer.
“And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
‘Cause sooner or later it’s over
I just don’t want to miss you tonight”
Kurt has his head resting on Blaine’s shoulder as Blaine quietly finishes the verse he is on, his hand is still stroking Kurt’s back and he leans a little back to try and get a look at Kurt.
Kurt moves with him and presses his face against the crook of Blaine’s neck, clenching Blaine tightly again. With a shuddering breath Kurt whispers, “He kissed me.” Blaine tenses for a moment, his hand stopping abruptly before he wills himself to not get upset.
“Karofsky?”
“I-I couldn’t take it anymore, I h-had to stand up to him… he… he pushed me again and I just, I just snapped. I followed him into here. I just wanted to stop hurting all the time. Why won’t he stop hurting me? We were yelling and. I thought he was gonna hit me, I wish he would of hit me. I don’t, I said something and then his- he just…. Oh god Blaine, he kissed me. He- he tried to do it again but I pushed him off. I didn’t want it Blaine. Why would he think I wanted him? I… I just stood here when he stormed off. The bell rang and… And then- they were already coming in. I had to hide. I didn’t want it… I didn’t do anything to make him want… I… Blaine?”
“It’s okay Kurt. We’ll make it better. I thi- I have a plan. I’ll make it better, Kurt.”Blaine says while hugging Kurt to his chest. “I promise.”
“I don’t think this is a good idea Blaine.” Kurt says as he pushed the door open and heads outside.
Blaine forces a fake smile on his face and pats Kurt on the shoulder. Honestly he doesn’t think it’ll work either but he has to try something. “Don’t worry about it; just let me do the talking.”
Kurt freezes for a second before saying “there he is,” and tilts his head in Karofsky’s direction.
Blaine looks over and grabs Kurt’s hand, quickly squeezes it before saying “I got this.” He walks up to Karofsky and says, “Excuse Me.”
Karofsky looks at them for a second before narrowing his eyes and spitting out, “This your boyfriend, Kurt?”
Kurt drops Blaine’s hand but neither of them answers, Blaine just continues on his practiced speech. “Kurt and I would like to talk to about something.” Karofsky just rolls his eyes and pushes past them. .”Kurt told me what you did.”
Karofsky freezes and then turns around and tries to act casual, “Oh yea, what’s that?”
“You kissed me.” Kurt harshly whispers before Blaine can even open his mouth.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Blaine watches Karofsky turn back around and walk away while he starts getting a bad feeling about all of this, Karofsky is looking angry not confused or scared, Kurt speaking up seems to have made things worse and he doesn’t know if he should veer off his script or not. With a shrug of the shoulders he continues on as he follows Karofsky. “It seems like you might be a little confused. And that’s totally normal. This is a very hard thing to come to terms with and you should just know you’re not alone.” Blaine’s starts feeling that this may work. Karofsky stopped walking away so maybe it wasn’t a waste to spend over 5 hours working on his speech. Blaine starts to smile and opens his mouth to keep going when Karofsky rushes towards him.
“Do not mess with me.” Karofsky snarls as he rams Blaine against the chain link fence. His hands are digging into Blaine and Blaine tries to look as non-threatening as possible. A gust of wind blows suddenly and Kurt is pushing Karofsky away from Blaine.
There’s a flash of lightning and a crash of thunder as Kurt bites out, “You have to stop this!” He steps in front of Blaine and glares at Karofsky. He looks angry and mad and Blaine’s actually more frightened of Kurt then he is of Karofsky.
Karofsky glares past Kurt looking straight at Blaine, “Better keep you boyfriend on a leash Hobbit. Wouldn’t want something to happen to him.” And with that Karofsky turns and leaves.
