The time has come to split America up. We are more and more polarized on every social, political, economic, environmental, and regulatory issue, and, frankly, we're just too big to house it all under one roof. So we're splitting the nation down the middle to create two new countries, Progressiverica and Libertarianica

as to your last question, I suppose the trio could rule Libertarianica with a loosely iron fist...until the inevitable "Et Tu, Brute?" moment where two gang up to kill off the third...Gates at that point might be banished to Progressiverica in lieu of assassination...his focus is education, which would seem to be a liberty interest held dear in USP v. LSP...

I also vote for the N/S divide....from SF to DC (tough luck WY and ID!)...

It would be interesting to run these two extreme world view experiments concurrently and see the outcome. Will they both implode? Will USL become a Mad Max Hellscape? Will USP become a place where nobody works and simply lives off the government until the money runs out? Both seem likely to me.

And, yeah, your split is sensible. We totally get all the beauty of WY and MT! For the rest of it, I suppose we can visit the southwest.
