dear puppies and kittens,

please stop being so g-damn cute. your sweet little legs and big eyes and ears make me want you more than my hormones make me want a baby once a month. and it doesn't go away.

and needy and destructive. the needmachine keeps asking for one. i think it will be hard enough to find a new place with four cats.

And we already have Helmut. . . who is needy and destructive enough as a cat.

Someone should have told him he's a cat.

Puppy's and Dogs require a lot of attention, time, excersize, training, and love. The first year is a pain because you have to potty train, obedience train, socialize and teach them appropriate behavior in general such as greetings and what is and is not okay to chew on. You have to establish dominance and appropriate boundries. It requires a lot patience

The reason god made puppies so cute is to keep us from killing them before they grow into adult hood. When Tucker was a baby, good lord did I wanted to pull my hair out sometimes because he could be such a pain in the ass. But I stuck with it and kept at it, working with him and excersizing him, and loving him. Now he's the greatest dog ever and I wouldn't trade him for the world. He knows his boundries, he knows what I expect of him and how to behave, and gives me nothing but love and affection. Dogs give back what you put into them.

Having a dog is like having a kid except you generally have a better success rate with how a dog turns out.
