Dad passed away around noon today. I'm doing laundry and packing up (in between bouts of kid-wrangling) so that we can try to get underway tonight. I don't know any real details of the arrangements; my siblings will fill me in when I get there. Just trying to keep busy because it probably won't be pretty if I stop to think about anything. -
Sorry for the delay
Our visit to see my dad went as well as could be expected. He was still lucid enough to enjoy seeing Twopointoh, who used Dad for a chew toy to exercise his two new teeth. Mom is hanging in there with a lot of help from my siblings and visiting hospice nurses. My mind is more at ease having had a chance to see Dad one more time ( Read more... ) -
Hoo boy
Don't know if this will go through or not, but they've decided to stop Dad's chemo and switch to palliative measures. I'll be heading up ASAP or whenever I can get one of our vehicles to quit breaking down and behave itself. God this all sucks. And screw you, Russia, for playing your stupid political games on LJ. -
Post of a more serious nature
I found out this evening that Dad isn't doing well at all. He's too run down and dehydrated to continue with chemotherapy, and without it his doctor gives him another six to eight weeks. They're trying to build his strength back up for chemo with IV hydration this week and next. My sister said she'd keep me posted as to when I should come home. ( Read more... ) -
What a f@$&ing stupid day
I am astonished at how ridiculous my life can be. I had to take the car in to the shop to get the brakes fixed. Regular wear and tear apparently, but I could have sworn it had to do with the BOWLING BALL wedged under the CAR. No clue how it got there. New shiny!
Whenever I go up north to see my parents I tend to wind up with a new toy. This time it's an iPad. I swore up and down that we didn't have a use for it and yet we are now proud owners of another doohickey. It does make it much easier to browse the interwebs from downstairs though. Some genius here at work has decided that LiveJournal, along with Facebook, YouTube, Myspace, Twitter, and a bunch of photosharing sites, is a threat to security and the American way of life and is therefore blocked by the work filter.
