awesome! i love that poster. i was actually at that protest, although i didn't pick my copy up there, but at bluestockings. one thing i did pick up at that protest were some rubber bullet welts, though.
When I was a child, I wanted to be an elf, and then at one point I wanted to be a struggling underground comic artist. No wonder I'm doomed. Hahahah.
What sort of self doubts are you having about veganism? If you ever want to talk about it, I'm all ears. I figured a lot of stuff out when I went vegan for a while and realized that veganism isn't exactly what i'm all about, I'm a bit more about local foods and am okay with eating animals as long as they are not from factories etc but it's not a big part of my diet at all.
you know in amish culture that period in the teenage years where youth are encouraged to break out of the culture a little bit, explore, and then figure out if the amish life is the one for them? well, i'm kind of doing the same -- being a little more relaxed, figuring out if this was the right decision for me. i am concluding that yes, it was the right decision for me.
i am die-hard local foods all the way. you know in my life what i want to do is work on reforming the agricultural system, to restore agriculture and food the the center of our culture's attention and community life. i understand that some people are going to continue eating me (i have no delusions of a Vegan America). local, alternatively-raised (grass farming, permaculture, etc) and humanely-raised meat is the lesser of many evils.
personally i do not think i will ever be comfortable eating meat, especially if it is not meat that i raised/hunted myself. i think animals are incredibly intelligent creatures and the idea of raising them for the purpose of
