Some creatures got no respect for natural kinds

Okay, tigrons and ligers make enough sense; that doesn't seem so wrong. But man the parents must be embarrassed when its all over the news that the baby is ( a zonkey/donkbra (I vote donkbra) )

If they were mature, you might could get away with it,
but since they are babies,
yes, I'm afraid so.

hahaha. not quite sure how to explain the donkbra, but whales and dolphins are the only animals other than humans and a few other primates who have sex purely for pleasure. that could easily have been analogous to the situational homosexuality in prison. they were horny.

I've always mistrusted these claims of which animals do what "purely for pleasure"... I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. I mean, clearly, sex is pleasurable for lots and lots of animals, and I doubt that mice have any idea that sex makes babies, etc. That's one of those claims of animal nature that gets thrown around, that I think implies that we understand cognition and animal psychology a whole lot better than we actually do.

Yeah it does sound like they were each others' only options, which is hard cruel. They article doesn't make it clear if this was a one-night stand or if they had/have a longterm thing; man, I'd love to know that!

yeah, that's true. i'm not sure how they decided that. maybe the only species who have sex when the female isn't "in heat" or whatever they call it for dolphins, and can't get pregnant?

and wow, i didn't even think about the potential LENGTH of the relationship. great question.
