i see the argument for affirmative action, but really, i just don't think two wrongs make a right. wasn't the point of civil rights to make it so everyone was given the same opportunities? and now the ideal solution is to merely change the group of people who are discriminated against? i know i feel kinda bad that a man gets a scholarship on his ( Read more... )

heh, like a lawyer? i'd actually thought about being a lawyer but the field's too crowded, and i don't feel like dealing with the ridiculous competition in today's hot careers.
yeah, it really sucks getting senioritis in junior year.

i'm alright, sick as in physically ill but i'll live.
how's smithfield? i haven't heard anything from anyone down there in a while.

I agree with everything you just said.

Also, at first I thought you wrote "warp your head around that."

there is no argument for affirmative action. it's the only truly racist policy in widespread use today. it's basically saying that black (or whatever race) people are too stupid to succeed on their own merits and that they need to get preferential treatment. i'd be offended by it if it applied to me.

well, by me saying i kinda see the argument, i mean that minorities have been pushed into the slums for a long time while white people climbed up the ladder, so it's trying to balance the playing field for minorities that have a hard time getting back up there.
it's still wrong though, we aren't going to fix our mistakes with more of what fucked everything up.

all i can say about high school is what i said on the phone the other day. basically, just breeze through it and don't pay attention to cretins. that's all i can tell you. you'll still see it at college, but you'll be around more people that are like you and less around the people who aren't.

you're almost done. senior year goes by fast. promise.
