Throats and plugs

Hello!

Okay - so what's the deal with air conditioning in North American hotels? When I was in Calgary six weeks ago, it was chilly outside, but inside the Hyatt it was as warm as toast. And after a few days spent there, the dryness of that air conditioning did weird things to my throat. But that was nothing to spending Thanksgiving in Chicago at a ( Read more... )

Actually, almost everyone I know wound up sick about 7-10 days after the conference. You may have caught it here in Cardiff, then spread it in Chicago. Sorry! :(

And I can't wait until your XF book gets released over here! I admit I dropped out of the show somewhere along series 5 or 6, though I came back in during series 8 and 9 occasionally.

I didn't actually have a problem w/ the hotel air at Chicago TARDIS for once. Then again, I suspect all the usual cold/sick germs that land on me during the con bypassed me for Gene this year!

The hotel was indeed trying to get you to order more drinks in the bar. They call it "The Parched Throat Strategy." It didn't work on me. I didn't have enough money to buy drinks at the hotel bar. They punished me by having the water at the fountains go unpredictably from cold to awfully warm all the time. I cursed the management regularly whilst sipping.

Congratulations on completing the X-Files book -- and the voce recognition software. I've always thought that looked like a niff toy, er- handy tool to have as a writer. I hope the book continues well apace, and I hope you and yours have a good holiday season. :)

Well, at least now I know where I got the head cold/sore throat from that I've been copng with over the last few days. I almost went down to request a humidifier (they do have them at that lovely hotel) because my nose and skin were so dry. Temperatures in my room were fine but that main ballroom was seriously cold. No wonder Lis Sladen bundled up when she had to speak in there.
I hope your software hangs in with you as your voice improves!
