Kierkegaard is fascinated by the story of Abraham. He uses it as the example of suspension of the ethical and entrance into the religious sphere. I think the book is fear and trembling, but I may be wrong. You're religious, and smart, you should read it.

Oh, and bonus points if you can tell me what "fear and trembling" is in latin, how it relates to the story of Abraham and to the reform of the catholic church in the 20th century to give mass in English.
