The riots were ridiculous. My boyfriend was downtown and he was barricaded inside the Queen Elizabeth theatre for about 3 hours. He was texting me pictures of what was happening outside. I've never been so terrified for his safety. I'm a huge hockey/Canucks fan, but even I know that it's just a game. Yeah, I was disappointed, but I would never torch a car to display that disappointment. Some people are just idiots.
I have a bunch of pictures of the messages that were written on the boarded up windows at the Bay. I'm trying to edit them so that I can post them, but I took like 300 pictures because each message was so lovely.

Wow, that must have been so scary! A bunch of Vancouver friends of mine posted on Facebook that they were going downtown to watch the game, so I was kind of frantically checking for updates on all of them that they were safe. It was stressful.
I was wondering what made you decide to learn Thai.
Yup. Necessity. :)
Favourite thing about Bangkok? That's a tough one. I suppose I'd have to say the food. And just the overall strangeness of the city -- the juxtaposition of the ultra-modern Skytrain/subway with the decrepit falling-apart school buses that make up the transit system.
I really hope you're able to find a new place to live. That apartment sounds miserable. And I'll have to warn my friend who is moving to Thailand in December to avoid the motorcycle taxis. Yikes.

I hope you can find a better apartment! That one does not sound good at all.
Heh, I guess if all you can watch is SG-1, there you go! I've never seen it.

I'm not going to claim that it's objectively good, but it's fun and entertaining. It doesn't take itself terribly serisously.

I hope you can find a new apartment soon! Adjusting to living in another country is hard enough when you don't even like your home :-/
What would you say is your favorite thing about Bangkok? Do you enjoy working as a teacher?
