I'm not expecting many serious responses to this, but maybe you'll surprise me ( Read more... )

i haven't had any personal experiences there, but i have three friends who went through the program and say that they're all the better for it. i think if you're going to do it that you'll have a great growing experience and come out of it with a lot of information and coping skills. if it makes you feel any better i've seen therapists for years for anxiety and panic disorder - and i believe in the benefits of therapy whole heartedly :) i wish you health and healing.

Oh, I don't need to feel any better about having it - I was diagnosed years ago and at this point I'm so open about having it that. well, I dunno, I can be too open about it, I guess. But I don't care! Stigma be damned.

Anyway, thanks for the info, that makes me feel more positive going into the tour.

I went through the program several years ago (if it's the same one I am thinking of? I didn't realize Strong was involved?) I actually went through it twice about a year apart. It was a huge help for me when I was going through a very dark time in my life. At least back then, a major part of the program was DBT.....you did DBT "classes" and therapy, other things as well, worked toward a particular goal tailored to your needs (for me it was being able to return to my job). The atmosphere is nice, relaxing area, a kitchen area, we even did "fieldtrip" sort of things, like once we went to the Lilac festival (some of us did, some couldn't handle the crowds).

I too am bipolar, but at that time had not been diagnosed. I was misdiagnosed as major depression/treatment resistant and possible borderline personality (which is NOT a dx of mine, as it turns out). It's a good program that I recommend, or at least, it was back in 2002!
