I volunteer with the Humane Society at Lollypop Farms. You need to be trained though, and then you go whenever your schedule fits.

I worked with them a little last summer, not regularly though. They said they stop working in November.

I use to volunteer at CURE childhood cancer association on westfall rd once or twice a week. You would do mostly office work like printing, data entry, and sorting mail. Sometimes you'll get a chance to meet the kids and put care bags together for them.

Keep an eye on RochesterCares.org; they haven't released their Dec. calendar yet but they are all about one-time volunteering opportunities.

Other than that, my suggestion would be to contact Foodlink. They always need volunteers, and if you contact them in advance, they can schedule you in for however many hours you want to help.

Volunteers of America is always in need of volunteers. I worked there this summer as part of the book selling operation -- basically sorting through massive boxes of donations and deciding what to try to sell online, in stores, or at the outlet store (89 Canal St). It was a nice mix of manual and intellectual labor, and I got to see some amazing stuff. You can contact Mary Kay Stone (mkstone@voawny.org) for more information.
