Fic rec

As almost everyone who's likely to be interested has already seen, miraminx's new fic, Redeeming Time, is up at her site. As her beta, I could be accused of bias in my rec, but in truth that's got nothing to do with it. This novella-length fic is among the best MWPP stories I've ever read and am ever likely to read. It's a story of growing up. It has a ( Read more... )

And I'm alright with that too! *grin* I remember one of my English teachers at secondary school trying to correct us with that, but even she admitted that she wasn't fully convinced it was wrong. She just had to try to teach it that way.

Oh good! I don't really see the point of fussing over this, either. 'Alright' is an evolving part of the language, but unlike the misuse of the apostrophe, it doesn't cause any confusion - in fact, it enhances by offering an alternative. Actually, that article also confirmed something I already suspected: that some people use it as a point of snobbery.

I'm especially glad I drew your attention to it, then. I knew everyone would like it.

Oh, my. Thank you. You modestly forgot to mention your own contributions, without which this story probably wouldn't even exist as I would have given up halfway through. Not to mention the fact that you coaxed me to select the James-POV challenge in the first place. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

My toes are curling as I read. Of course, what you don't mention is that most of my contribution involved putting a line through things like 'trash' and writing in 'bin'.... no, on second thoughts, you knew that one already.

I thought yesterday of another piece of evidence to back up a last-minute change you made, which supports one of our theories about James. It made me even more glad you'd decided to go with your final version. And I'm delighted that the story's blazing its way across half the ljs on my friends list. Today R/Sers, tomorrow the Snapeslashers.

Well, repeatedly telling me it wasn't boring was very helpful, too; otherwise I might just have given up in October.

Good! I'm looking forward to hearing this new evidence.

Bwahahahahaha! Indeed.

Thanks so much for the link to the gay sex article! That's a great one, especially since in the back of my mind I have another paper on slash fanfiction writers and this would be an excellent contribution.

And Minx's story. Yes, I definitely will be carving out time to read it!
