WiP Amnesty Day -- HP

Feb 07, 2005 15:23

Is it really a year since the last one? It's always cathartic to offload these bits of fic. I'm not saying this will never get finished, but I'm absolving myself just in case. So far it's up at 15,000+ words and still nowhere near done. An HP, seventh year, Sirius-comes-of-age fic ( Read more... )

I'm so glad you like it! It's one of those stories I go back to when I'm stuck with others, so bits and pieces are always being added to it. For once I've got the entire story in outline from start to finish, so I won't say it'll never be finished -- just that it might take a while!

Oh wow, I had no idea you were writing this. It's wonderful! Sirius's thoughts about Regulus are perfect, that protective older-brother attitude, reinforced by the fact that their parents are totally incapable of being parents. And the way he bursts into sobs is actually very male-- I could *feel* how much he hated doing that, and how the sobs were just wrenched out of him. Thank God Remus is there. And thank you for sharing this; I loved it.

word has it that Dougray Scott (Warren Cochrane!) isn't going to be the new James Bond after all. Hmph. Well, God forbid that they actually get anybody good for the part.

Rats.

I owe you an email. Hopefully I'll get to it sometime this week. Things have been busier than I anticipated. Hope you're doing well-- *mwah*.

Thank you! I'm so glad you thought it sounded ok. I'm always wary of characters crying: other people may be able to write it convincingly, but I'm always afraid my crying character will come across like a big Jessie. This fic has been sitting on my hard drive for over a year now; I honestly can't remember if I mentioned it before.

Don't worry about the email; I'll be sending one to you soon!

So what can I give you for more?

Erm... an ability to organise and multitask like the one you've got would be good! Also, a brain not currently inhabited by tall, handsome, sword-wielding immortals (who are coming to get you, too, btw - resistance is futile).

But I'm really glad you liked it. I'm encouraged to go back and look at it afresh...

*falls over laughing* You think I can organize and multitask? Remind me to take a photo of my dining room table and send it to you!

And tall handsome sword-wielding immortals are NOT a bad thing. *g* Tell them to make love, not war...

Everyone's allowed some messy bits in their lives -- if yours is confined to a few square feet of dining room table, well, QED!

And the immortals are working on the love thing, really. *g*

Oh! I just now read this, an oh! Too short! Poor Sirius, so confused, so...Sirius. I love how you showed this time, which is always hard, I think. It was confusing and hard for them, and you showed that really, really well. I want more, but am willing to wait. *g*

Seriously, it's so good to read more from you.

Mwah!

It's a pretty bleak year for Sirius, but it does get brighter at the end.

And thank you, I'm so pleased you liked it!

I've had this book-marked for ages but only just got to read it tonight. You make me remember why I was drawn to Remus/Sirius in the first place. There's just much emotion in them...even when I'm a bit bored with fandom they never get boring. I really should re-read PoA, or at least my favourite R/S stories. Incidentally, I was reading "Set on Fire" the other night - have it in hardcopy - it's still one of the best slash stories I've ever read in any fandom.

Well, it's lovely to see you here, missy -- I thought you'd abandoned us completely for those naughty sailors!

Thank you for the nice things you said about this snippet, and also about Set on Fire. I haven't looked at that one for ages (I'm probably too scared of what I'll find), but I'm immensely flattered by what you said, and it does actually encourage me.

Hope all's going well with you and that your winter Oop North hasn't been too bad.
