... from Andalucía, complete with fake tan courtesy of St Tropez and Clarins factor ten billion sunblock. How wonderful it was. I adore Spain, really love it. Celtic colouring aside, I'm not meant for northern latitudes

Thank you! It was really lovely, better than I'd imagined.
Franco? Ewww.
Well, you and I think so, but I'm constantly surprised at the sheer numbers of Spaniards who don't.
Village People was exactly what I thought of when I saw the builders, too, especially the guy in the red hat in the second pic. It was especially funny because there were all these (male) passers-by who stopped to watch them work. I was one of the few women spectators!
WELCOME BAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!mrsronweasleyJune 18 2005, 12:07:12 UTC
That really is the gayest building site ever in the world. It's right out of the Village People, or something. I had to go back and make you wrote 'building site' rather than, I don't know, 'gay beach'. Seriously. That's hysterical.
The pictures are gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. I am insanely jealous.

The whole experience was just wonderful.
And wheeee!! I just saw that you got it -- well done, sweetie! I'm so happy for you, and full of admiration for the way you get things to happen for yourself.
Have the best time tomorrow and don't worry about remembering everyone's names. I'll be thinking of you.

I'm so glad. I'm so glad. I'm just all smiley over here, and only a little bit envious!
And thank you!! I think I've just had very good luck overall, and I'm trying to figure out which deity I should thank first. :P But thank you, just for being so wonderful and supportive, and other things, but that would get too sappy, right? :P
I think forgetting names would be the best mistake...forgetting about job-related things...that's what worries me. But, anyway, it's only training, and statistically speaking, if I put my foot in my mouth once tomorrow, I should be clear till, say, Wednesday...
It was really fab. Notwithstanding a couple of mishaps, like no hire car ready at the airport, the house we'd originally wanted suddenly not being available, and so on. But even they all worked out in our favour in the end.
And there was sun! That may just be my quota till next year.
Ooh, lovely pictures! I've been to the Alhambra, but I was there in the winter, so it wasn't quite as green. I loved the water everywhere, too. I love reading about other people's travels. :)
Thank you! I like to read about other people's travels, too. What was the temperature like in the winter?
I must admit, there were times when I was wishing I'd gone out of season, because it was just so stupidly busy that I actually skipped a few parts rather than trip over yet more tour groups; but then I'd have missed the gardens at their best. The Alhambra was definitely a highlight of my trip.
It was COLD. My friends and I had gone south because we'd thought it would be warmer than where we were staying (Scotland and Paris) but it really wasn't. :) In the hostel, we slept in our overcoats.
It wasn't that crowded, even though we were there for New Year's. Aside from the cold, it was pretty nice. Cordoba was my favorite part of Spain. I loved the old Arabic arcitecture, the tea houses, and the fountains and the plazas.
This actually amused me, because the one time my sister was in Spain, it was freezing and she caught a cold. It never occured to me, I'm not sure why, that it could ever BE cold in Spain, even though, intellectually, I know this assumption to be nonsense. When I was in Italy, it was freezing cold, too. Then again, yes, it was December...and we were in the North...
Isn't the poem gorgeous? My Spanish isn't good enough to understand all of the original without a dictionary, but that looks a pretty good translation in its own right.
Spain is wonderful although I haven't visited all the bits I want to, yet. I loved the Moorish architecture and influences where we were - even the tiny little tourist information centre was in a beautiful old Moorish house, complete with gardens and fountains and beautiful tiles. I would happily have stayed on for ages!
