GIP! GIP! GIP!

From last night's Doctor Who finale, which left me squeeing like a squeeing fangirl. (Icon by the very clever skater_g8r, via doctorslashjack.) The Doctor and Captain Jack have been dancing around this for a while, and they finally did it. *sigh* This might just be the first non-latenight boykiss on the BBC, ever. And even though I usually avoid them like the plague, I ( Read more... )

It really is the most enjoyable new series I've seen for ages. Slash, on a platter. (Is it still slash if it's canon?)
I think it's meant to be showing in your neck of the woods, so do try to watch it if you get the chance.

It's airing on CBC but I missed the first episodes and couldn't be bothered trying to get up to speed. It's on right now, actually. The episode is called 'Rose'. Should I run watch or should I continue slaving over some damn HH story that refuses to write itself?

They must be showing it from the start again, because Rose is the first episode. (I love Rose, too - she's just wonderful.) You could always watch and write at the same time -- and you never know, the relaxation of just watching might indirectly stimulate your creative impulses.

Do we get to see/know about your HH fic when it's finished? :)

Wow, I second Jest. Was that not a joke? Like...a real kiss?! I've seen people squeeing over this episode around the entire LJ and I wasn't sure what had happened (since we sadly don't get it over here), but wow! How cool!

No, no joke. Without being spoilery, the Captain thought there was a chance he might not get to see the Doctor and Rose again, and he kissed them both, like that. Of course, the Doctor's kiss was much more interesting!

When I tell you that the head writer and exec producer is Russell T Davies, I'm sure it all makes sense!

Oh, wow. See, I'd love to see this, but I'm sure the majority of the American TV viewing audience would not...grrrr. Maybe they'll just...have the DVDs someday...

I actually knew it was Russell T Davies, so I wasn't surprised...well, I was, but not with him. If you know what I mean. (Hey, is Craig Kelley in it? Or did I imagine things while on IMDB?.. I love him...too cute for words. Even if he's not the most brilliant actor around...)

He's the guy who played Vince in QaF, isn't he? I don't recall seeing him in DW, but that doesn't mean he wasn't in it.

If you're reading this this evening, I hope everything went brilliantly for you today.

Nyohohohoh, I wanted to watch that episode when I saw that icon. *eg*

The strange thing, however, is that I didn't see the kiss. I wonder if it got censored. :o Where exactly in the episode did it take place?

Oh, that would be such a shame -- not to mention gross butchering of the storyline -- if it had been censored out. It happens just as the Dalek fleet is about to arrive, and Captain Jack is leaving the Doctor and Rose, knowing that he's going to die in the forthcoming battle. And he kisses first Rose, then the Doctor. After, of course having flirted with both since he first came on the scene. *g*

But the reason why it was so important to show it was that it demonstrated better than words, Jack's transformation from the selfish rogue he was when he first met them, into a self-sacrificing hero (still with that broad streak of irony, of course!). And it really all was due to the Doctor's influence, which was what made the kiss so perfect.

If I had a dvd that records (which I don't, alas), I'd send you a full, uncensored copy, just because it's so good. I hope you can at least download it from somewhere.

Aaaaaaaaah, I finally saw it! :> I guess I missed it on my first viewing of the episode.

Awww, he definitely kissed the Doctor way longer. *eg*
