oddly, this is the book that convinced me that Snape will be the saviour of all.

Same here. Absolutely.

Thank you for this. If I read enough calm reactions from rational people, I may be able to face the actual book.

Remus absolutely should have consolation prizes--but must it be the sexually confused pink-haired baby lesbian? Well, they might have a sort of spastic thing and find it doesn't work and end up good friends.

I am going to read the book, having found it free on the internet--already, isn't that amazing? Hard to feel guilt about robbing from the richest woman in the UK. Will blab more after I've read.

I'll be really interested to see what you thought about it, too (R/T aside).

I'm so, so glad you liked it, shipping (and R/T shipping especially) aside. It restored my faith in JKR.

The R/T thing: well, I wondered if she was perhaps giving Remus someone to care for him because he's had such a shitty time of it. (And I'm getting *so* fed-up reading the words 'patched', 'shabby' and 'tired' in descriptions of his appearance.) At least Tonks was less irritating in this story; but the whole 'romance' had such a feeling about it of something she'd just bolted on at the last minute.

Slughorn was great, wasn't he? Very modern, very network-y.

Fleur's accent grated, but I was glad she shut Molly up. And I'm so glad Harry dumped Ginny; I can see a little Molly-in-the-making in her.

Can you believe I'm inspired to get back to my 7th-year MWPP fic? Which was really about Sirius and, to a lesser extent, Regulus. I'm so sorry now that we won't ever meet Regulus; he sounded like quite a guy.

Love you, sweetie! (And did I say I'm so happy you liked this?) *Mwah!!*

Well, you never know - Oona did bring up the whole Stubby Boardman thing, after all...

Oh, oh, oh! And that is all I'm going to say.

Do you think she did it to shut us all up? It had that feeling of 'he's straight, get over it!' over the whole thing. Bah. I still say he's gay as a daisy, and screw that.

In a way I'd like Stubby Boardman to be Regulus in disguise; but not really. It would kind-of make a mockery of all the pain and sacrifice. And besides, if Dumbledore couldn't do it without dying in the process, I can't see anyone else managing.

Do you think she did it to shut us all up?

No, I suspect she might have done it so Remus wouldn't be alone any more. He is her favourite character, and she's been so mean to him. I also think Tonks will either walk off into the sunset with him at the end, or she'll be used to bring down more tragedy and regret on his head.

Poor Remus! I don't think the Angst-demons are finished with him yet.

I've been looking forward to your take on this since, like, OotP. :P Honestly, we were all in the car, going "Ohhh, can't wait to read Roche's review! Squeee!' Didn't disappoint, either. :P

Remus/Tonks -- What can I say? Two characters in denial about their own sexuality never made a good basis for a ship.

Yaaaaaaaah. Ugh.

I'm glad you still like Dumbledore - I do, too. He grew on me in this book, and I liked him a WHOLE lot better than in the last one. Like, a LOT more.

Molly - God, why is she still allowed to exist? Why, why?!

Overall, there was just too much of it, and I thought the war/romance balance was out of kilter.

I was really surprised by that. Honestly, it was all teenage-hormones, jam-packed into four hundred or so pages. I liked it, but there were times when I thought 'don't they have anything better to do? what's going on?'

'ow ai 'ate zat stupeed mock Frainch acksant zat Fleur eez forced to speek een. Beel on ze ozzer 'and deed not open eez mouth. An' az for zee 'ug weeth Molly at zee end -- zut ( ... )

Oh, that was nice of you! It wasn't much of a review -- my days of picking over the bones of HP plots are gone, but I had fun reading all the reviews (and even more reading all the wank). *Especially* by the cool kids. Bwahaha! Not cool, never have been. And to prove it: :)

I was so happy to like DD again, after he'd put the boot into Sirius's reputation in OotP. But Molly! And Ginny, her Mini-Me! Take them now, Fenrir!

I'll always be an R/S shipper, I'm afraid. If Remus is prepared to dispense pity-fucks, well, that won't sink my ship.

Hope your weekend was faaaaab. Did you all read HBP together?
(And I meant to say how pleased I was that you decided to post your story.)

And yet I still managed to enjoy myself immensely reading this. :)

I definitely enjoyed the cool-kids thoughts on this, as I am not one of them either. (:P!) You are, though, hush.

Yes! He was much more alive, too, and much more interesting to me. (The Sirius thing still pisses me off, though.)

But Molly! And Ginny, her Mini-Me! Take them now, Fenrir!

Oh, God! The thought! So horrible! You really think she's Mini-Molly? That so depressing...

I'll always be an R/S shipper, I'm afraid.

Hurrah! Just what I wanted to hear. *g* Me too. It's too good to let go of now. Nothing wrong with pity-fucks, anyway. Even if they do lead to potential marriages... >.Our weekend as FANTABULOUS, and I will write all about it, too. ( ... )
