The Alex Kapranos thing is really strange. I don't even want to think about how strange it is. Like the rumour that Stephen Fry reads RPF of himself and Hugh Laurie, and enjoys it. That may also be wishful thinking by someone. Maybe.

Nicole Kidman looks amazing in a way, like a humanoid portfolio of a plastic surgeon's artistry. But she creeps me out. She's about two more operations away from looking like that woman who looks like a cat.

I like to read other people's posts but don't have anything interesting to say myself just now. Possibly never did! I enjoy seeing everyone else's posts, though.
No, that's a big fat lie -- I like to read your posts and other friends'. But some people on lj remind me a bit too much of Annie Wilkes for my liking. I've come across quite a few like that lately, for some strange reason.

I see your fab Doctor icon and raise you another!

*hugs* you back.

I think The Empty Child & The Doctor Dances are my two favourite TV episodes ever, of all time. They had everything -- Nine, Jack, Rose, bisexuality jokes, cross-references specially for geeks (Constantine!), creepiness enough to send me hiding behind a cushion, and a happy ending that I didn't even see coming until about two seconds before it happened. I just can't express my love for it all. They still make me smile, just thinking about them.

I didn't see Saturday's episode but it's safely waiting for me on disc. I've heard nothing but good things about it and I'm so looking forward to seeing it.

I suppose you heard about the kerfuffle over the Doctor Who magazine last month, with its JB interview and his risqué comments about Ecclestone and Tennant? And his own... attributes? I think I may need to see a picture before I can decide whether or not it's all empty boasting. :)

Alex Kapranos apparently likes to read RPF featuring himself.
Is that really true? I can understand not minding it -- but seeking it out? That seems a bit weird to me.

Somewhere (and god only knows where it is now-- lost in the (I won't say bowels, aren't you glad?) murky depths of the internet, anyway) I read a fan's story which involved Alex Kapranos recommending slacken_ties to a fangirl. I'm not sure what prompted him to mention it to the fan, but, like any normal human, he probably googled himself, found the site, and had a good laugh over it while repetitively checking that Eleanor was still firmly ensconced at his side.

I was crushed to read that Nicole 'The Mask' Kidman is playing Mrs Coulter in His Dark Materials. And I had been so looking forward to it.

Oh noooooooo. Why must they massacre our favorite children's books by turning them into movies? I can't even think about what they're doing to the Dark Is Rising.

Hugh Lawrie's marriage isn't on the rocks; he always looks that miserable. The piece I read said he looked ( ... )

I just looked at slacken_ties which I'd happily lived without knowing the existence of. Bloody hell -- have they deliberately made it look like the work of a crazed fan? As I said to Ni, the Annie Wilkes thing again.

Don't speak of the Dark is Rising movie. Even if Chris Ecclestone is playing Mitothin. I'm still not going to see it.

The piece I read said he looked miserable because he missed Steven Fry
Fry probably wrote that under another name. Then went off and wrote a reunion-sex PWP on the back of it (if you'll pardon the expression).

Did you like the Fratellis? I'm sorry to say that another reason I'm going to see the Chili Peppers is because Anna wants to go. Yes, I've reached that stage in my life. I used to pity people in that situation. I still do, actually.

You probably won't believe this, but I don't actually hang out at slacken_ties on a regular basis. Who's Annie Wilkes?

Right, then I'll just say that they lost me at "The Stantons are an American family" and nothing can bring me back.

I knew there was a reason I missed you.

I haven't seen the Fratellis yet; it's something to look forward to. If their live show is anything like their album I anticipate it will be short, fast, and coke-laden.

At least Anna isn't dragging you off to see McFly. See, it could always be worse.

Ack! Missed your comment completely. Sorry. Mac mail seems to be off line half the time atm.

Annie Wilkes was one of the two central characters in Misery, the Stephen King story. You know, the one who is the HUGE fan of the novelist Paul Sheldon, who gets him into her house after his car crashes nearby then cuts his foot off to stop him ever getting away. I've been uncomfortably reminded of her lately by some things I've seen around lj and offshoots; in one case, just indescribable stuff. Obsessive and vindictive, all wrapped up in one ugly package. I'll give you the gory details when I'm next emailing, which I've been meaning to do for ages, in any case. (Have you been away, or have you still to go?)

Right, then I'll just say that they lost me at "The Stantons are an American family" and nothing can bring me back.

Right, so you didn't get to the description of Will further on, which was (paraphrasing), 'Will is a cool kid who hasn't yet grown into his cool.'?
Lucky you.

At least Anna isn't dragging you off to see McFly. See, it ( ... )
