The other day I stumbled into a fic in a category that I usually avoid like the plague. And was half-way through it, admiring the writing while wondering at the slight oddities of the plot (which turned out to be necessary for the set-up), before I realised what was happening. Other than a rating, it had no warnings; nothing ( Read more... )

This is why I am a firm proponent of warnings. I'd rather be somewhat spoiled than feel as if the author has played some kind of unenjoyable trick on me.

I read this week that Tom Chaplin sits in front of his TV snorting coke and crying over 'Cash in the Attic'.

I read that too, which is just more proof that Keane is lame.

Watchers of BBC America, beware. You know who you are

Hey! I don't CRY over it. Anyway, it's not the same now that they replaced the original host with a younger, trendier, even more metrosexual, but somehow less gay, host.

I'm really looking forward to the Manics' new album. I don't know if it will be released domestically here, but I'll gladly cough up for import prices if I have to.

their cool is well and truly shatteredYeah, I'm ambivalent about that, because I don't want Nicky to turn into one of those 'oh he's so crotchety, isn't he lovely' old(ish) men. But on the other hand, it means they may be a step closer to doing all of 'Everything Must Go' at one of those Don't Look Back shows, an event ( ... )

There's been a bit of debate lately between the Spoilers and No Spoilers camps and I sympathised intellectually with the No Spoilers camp. But in the event, I felt as though I'd been mugged by that story. Tricked, definitely.

more proof that Keane is lame

If Jarvis Cocker had said it, I might have respected it. But not Tom Chaplin.
Is it worse to cry over it? Or not? Who's the new host -- is it the Prince William lookalike? Ben Fogel, I think his name is. He's on everything these days.

The Manics are playing here next Monday night but I'm not going this time. I will stalk city-centre record shops like a groupie, though, to see if they'll do any personal appearances. I want my copy of Everything signed and I missed them last time they were here.

*waves* I saw your icon on your comment to janedavitt's Olympic post, and got terribly excited over the fact that it was the Manics :) And now I find out that you hate Keane as well! AWESOME. I hope you don't mind if I friend you on the strength of these two things.

I once saw someone wearing a badge that stated 'I'm not keen on Keane'. I'm been looking for one ever since.

Friend away! (I friended you back.) I'm not around lj every day but I try with varied success to keep up.

Does anybody really like Keane? Or anybody over 16, at any rate? I was cruel enough to laugh when I read that thing about Tom Chaplin.

The Manics, OTOH, make me happy, especially after their new album. And I adore your icon.
