I left a comment on someone's journal just now that I know will get deleted and she will probably ban me. I didn't post it to cause dramaz or hurt. I posted it because homophobic actions and words need to be called out when they occur ... especially if they are done by people who are not homophobic. If I do get banned, there is not much I can do about it but I will not loose sleep over standing up for what I believe. I don't think badly of this person and wish her all the best but I still have to call people out on their homophobic actions. I know *she's* not homophobic and that she doesn't hate gay people but still ... if I stayed silent, I would be going against everything I believe in that is good and just.

I completely grok what you are talking about. This issue really, really bothers me, too.

I am fine with agreeing to disagree, but the horse is dead, could she stop beating it already?

In matters of religion or faith or child rearing or anything else, I would agree to disagree. But, for me, this issue goes so much deeper than that. This issue is about human rights and one group taking rights away from another group. No matter who the groups are or what the issue is, it is still wrong.

I agree. This is a human and civil rights issue.

It makes me oh-so-very happy to not live in the US. The fact that we are even having this conversation is appalling, really.

I so agree! I find it appalling that those states even thinks it's okay to have a VOTE on this! As if human rights should be voted on and potentially taken away! Grrr. Sometimes I think the american governments (state and federal) are so very backwards!

I don't know if you remember, but a month or so ago, you commented on a mutual friend's journal about her use of "retarded", and I really liked what you had to say. This came back to me as I'm trying to figure out how to explain to someone that her use of "gay" as an insult is inappropriate. Anyway, I'm probably going to use some of your words, and I just wanted to thank you for the help.

Also, we have some of friends and interests in common, so I "friended" you - I hope that's OK!
