It's rough sometimes going to christians colleges I know-because it almost seems so closed-minded-and you're most likely not used to being around ALL christians. When you are(around all christians) it's easy to be thrown off by their actions, whether their good or bad(actions). I know several people that have started to kind of rebel from christianity because of it-but I only assume that's because they weren't strong enough to begin with. But I won't know for another couple years I suppose. Anyway-what I mean is simply try not to be thrown off by how other christians act about their beliefs-I know how you feel kind of-just by talking to my brother or other friends in christian colleges. Hang in there.
re: #1) yeah, i know what you mean. at oru it is difficult not to 'sentimentalize' God...even in general. i think that is one of the major problems in the church today...the focus is on sentiment and performance and not reality in God
re: #2) i haven't run into any "holier than thou" people, even though it is a fine line to walk with really not compromising...people have called me "holier than thou" just because i refuse to compromise what i believe and practice with my whole heart
