It still amazes me, how facing one's own mortality forces one to reevaluate everything. Well, I suppose someone else could choose not to do so, but I know I needed to change some fundamentals before I could face the challenges my illness brought.

There's probably a balance to be struck between 'old life' and 'new life'. There's a lot that hasn't changed at all, yet everything has changed.
