According to the Washington Post, 7.3 billion (yes, billion with a "B") text messages are sent every month. A year ago it was only 2.9 billion a month.

Moreover 2% of American adults have broken up with someone by sending them a text message, and another 2% have proposed to someone that way. How romantic!
