Theory

so, i never made one of those "favorite albums/songs of 2006" lists. there are several reasons for that, not the least of which being that i hate when people make those lists just to drop names of all the obscure indie bands they know to make them look really on top of the scene and cool. and i think that happens alot with those lists. i did draw ( Read more... )

See, my favorites always fit into track 2. This busts your theory.

What I REALLY want is a CD that has good music past the first five or six tracks. Most stuff released now has a distinct downward slope as it goes along.

i wholeheartedly agree. i'm also not a fan of the old "hidden track" trick, where the last song plays for 25 minutes or so at the end and then there is music hiding there. wtf.

Forreal. And it's not like the hidden track is ever any good. It's usually the lead singer whacking some trash cans around or some other mindless noise. I reject their hidden tracks.

totally radical. i'm nervous now, i hope you like it. i'm glad it got there though, b/c i stole electronic postage as i said i was going to, but then realized you are supposed to send on the same day with that electronic postage...which i didn't. a couple had stamps though. anyway, i'm glad.

Don't worry about it. I can't listen to it yet DUE TO BIGWIGS, but I'll listen on the way home. I like what I see in the track listing though. Arctic Monkeys!! Word.

yes! i've found that, too. lots of my favorite tracks are either #4 or #7. maybe they've figured out that that point in the album is where you've gotten into the groove. who knows? but yes, i agree, there is a pattern there.

i noticed years ago when i realized that track 7 on each Tori Amos album was an epic kick ass affair. then i started to notice it on other records, too. i think the artists wait a little bit and then drop the pee-in-your-pants good song.

also, i agree with you on the whole list thing. people do want to show off. i'm on the Newbury Comics email list and for the past couple of messages, there have been staff picks for 2006 and i was just thinking "get over yourself!" except for the chick who chose Justin Timberlake and Gnarls Barkley. she was ok.
