Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? Archer stands at around 5'9", the average height for a man his age. He is slender rather than stocky, a sign that he isn't all that interested in physical work or training. He is an intellectual rather than a fighter, and his appearance shows it. Archer always looks perfectly polished. It's rare to see him looking anything other than collected and calm.
2. How old is he? In his mid-twenties. (No canon support for this, derpderp.)
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? Archer could balance books on his head as he walks. No, literally. The guy doesn't seem to know the meaning of the word "slouch" (though he will when on his own or around his fellow Johto Executives). He strongly believes that first impressions are important, and strives to appear powerful and prepared. He (usually) is.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Archer isn't out of shape, he just doesn't exercise any more than he has to. That's not to say he's lazy, he's just not fond of the typical physical activities (i.e. running, lifting weights, anything involving a gym full of sweaty guys...). Otherwise he's quite unremarkable.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? There is a certain tensenes to the way Archer moves, as if he's expecting to be called out on something at any moment. Despite that, his movements always seem fluid, and were he to actually bother entering a Pokemon contest, he'd be well-suited for it. He's a damn good dancer, not that he'll ever admit it.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? Oh he's attractive. Archer is at his prime right now, and he's quite aware of it. Despite knowing how attractive he is, he's careful not to overdo it. He rarely mentions his own beauty, instead feigning humility.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Paaaaale. This guy needs to get out more. He has no scars or imperfections - and there are ladies who do like lighter skin.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style. Archer's hair has been depicted as anything from turquoise to blue. It's more of a light aqua color and always kept short. It is usually slicked back away from his face, though occasionally strands do get in the way. He dislikes using hair gel, which usally results in his hair looking a little messy after awhile. His hair is thick and a bit coarse, something he sincerely loathes.
9. What color are his eyes? Archer's eyes are the same aqua color as his hair. Which is weird, but this is the Pokemon universe.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? THE CURTAINS MATCH THE DRAPES, LADIES. Not really.
11. What are his chief tension centers? The back of his neck, right at the junction of his neck and shoulders. Archer gets tense there easily, which usually ticks him off easily. When seriously stressed he'll begin imagining "symptoms" which could mean anything from the common cold to cancer. He's a bit of a hypochondriac.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? If you check his closet, you'll find about eight of the same Team Rocket Executive suit. No, seriously. It's pretty much all he wears. If he's attempting to hide the fact that he's with Team Rocket (a rarity), he'll wear long-sleeved shirts with high neck-lines and slacks. Typically in monochromatic colors, though the occasional dark blue sneaks in.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? Yes, and yes. Archer dislikes clothes that are too tight or too loose, and he wouldn't wear anything he doesn't like (thus why he's not wearing one of the solid black Team Rocket suits like his fellow male Executives. ...Does that mean he's wearing a modified female Executive uniform?)
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? What free time? Archer lives for his job. It's pretty much the only thing he has. WHAT A LOSER.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? COMMANDO ALL THE WAY BBY. Kidding. Archer would rather be shot in the head than go commando. He typically wears boxers. They're white. Because he's boring like that.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? Archer's voice sounds like... well, Frank Archer from FullMetal Alchemist. I CAN'T HEAR HIM ANY OTHER WAY, SHUT UP.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? Archer's voice is a bit more reflective of his emotions than his face or body language. He tends to speak a bit slower, as if he's talking to a child no matter who you are. There are very few people who hear anything else to his voice. Though he does hesitate a bit while speaking, Archer is actually quite the orator.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? While not really a verbal tic, Archer does tend to speak intellectually (even if he's talking to a ten year old) and cautiously. He tends to address others almost respectively, though whether its a mocking thing or not is difficult to tell.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? Well, since Pokemon technically takes place in Japan... Japanese? Well, he only speaks the common language of the Pokemon world. He has a bit of knowledge in other languages, but he isn't particularly good enough to speak any other language with any consistancy.
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? Nope.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? He'd much rather think about his words and plan speeches, but Archer is overall a good speaker when he needs to be. He has no stage fright whatsoever, and doesn't freeze in front of large crowds. He wouldn't be a very good leader if he couldn't address his Grunts.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? Very eloquent. Archer has a way of melding words together to easily get others to do what he wants. Especially Grunts. When he's drunk he still attempts the same thing... it just doesn't work at all. Archer tends to go silent when he's completely flustered or frustrated, but were he to attempt to speak it would be a far cry from his normal elegant speech.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart? Very. Archer picks up on things quickly and is eager to learn whatever he can. Though his interests mostly lie outside the world of Pokemon, he's picked up a good deal while working with Team Rocket. Despite being a Pokemon gangstaher, Archer really doesn't have much in the way of street smarts. It's so bad he even has trouble telling when others are sarcastic. He plays defensively and always assumes you're being sarcastic.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate? He needs time. Like his speech, he can think on his feet and (usually) get himself out of a mess, but he prefers to have time in advance to plan everything out down to the most miniscule detail. This tends to backfire though, because he never plans for his own failure.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? Logical and practical. Still, there are plenty of idealistic ideas that find their way into Archer's mind (such as the idea that Giovanni will see him as an important asset to Team Rocket if he shows off in Johto). Archer's train of thought it an easy one to follow. He focuses on what needs to be focused on, and nothing else. He's quite dedicated, though should something better come along you can bet he'll go for that idea instead.
4. What kind of education has the character had? Like all Pokemon trainers, he went to school until he was ten. From there he went out journeying, though Archer was almost constantly reading. Instead of studying Pokemon, he studied the more "academic" things, like math and science. Though he hasn't attended any sort of college, he can easily read at that level and perform calculations easily. Archer is naturally smart, a fact he doesn't take for granted. He's always eager to learn more.
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? Science (particularly radio waves, derpderp), math, rhetoric, and oration. Archer's knowledge of Pokemon is severely lacking in comparison. While this makes him a rather crappy trainer, it makes him a good leader for Team Rocket. He's interested in learning more about, well, everything.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert? Introvert, though he has no trouble pretending to be an extrovert should the need arise.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? Archer is very even-tempered. He's so even-tempered it's scary. It takes a lot to piss him off, and even more to get him to show anything. At times he seems completely emotionless, though its really because he's not comfortable showing emotion so openly. He hates to be seen as weak, and emotions like sadness can easily send the wrong message. Archer is obviously very ambitious, planning to revive Team Rocket within the Johto region. Even if he didn't have Ariana, Petrel, and Proton he'd still go through with his plans. He's very goal-oriented and will single-mindedly pursue whatever it is he's set his sights on, especially concerning Team Rocket.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? Very suspicious. He doesn't like being thrown out of his element, and dislikes the lack of information even more. He can act as though nothing is wrong, but Archer almost always is on the defensive.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react? React. He prefers to let the other make the first move so as to judge what they will do next. There are times when this changes - such as Giovanni's disappearance for three straight years.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight? It depends, really. If his own ass is on the line, it's flight. If it's for the greater good of Team Rocket, fight. Physical injury tends to result in a flight response.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? Archer does have a sense of humor... somewhere. It's in his other suit. As long as the jokes are tasteful, you'll usually get a small smirk or a groan. That's usually a good sign - unless its a terrible pun in which case you should start running. You'll get Houndoom'd.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them? Archer has no known mental disorders, though he can be a bit of a hypochondriac at times. He deals with this the only way he knows how - by throwing himself into his work and only making the problem worse.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person? Oh boy. HERE WE GO.
- I. Joining Team Rocket
This should be an obvious one. Team Rocket became Archer's home-away-from-home, and soon enough his actual home. Despite loathing Grunt-work, Archer loved every moment of his time within Team Rocket. He didn't mind stealing Pokemon or occasionally hurting them or people, so long as he could justify it.
- II. Getting his Houndoom
Though he'll never admit it, Archer loves his Houndoom. He got it as a Houndour, which he stole from a kid from Johto. It was not his first Pokemon, but it became his favorite easily. He's always like dogs anyway.
- III. Meeting Ariana
Archer met his galpal fellow Executive Ariana shortly before Giovanni's downfall in Kanto. The two became fast friends despite their differences and bonded over a deep love for Giovanni their similar experiences in Team Rocket. Though Ariana was a fighter rather than a planner, the two always got along quite well.
- IV. Being promoted to Executive
Giovanni promoted Archer himself. It was the first time he saw Team Rocket's boss up close, and he was in awe immediately. (Oh yeah, that would be another moment when he loses his "pretty-speech" powers. Being around Giovanni his mancrush) Giovanni gave him the promotion and sent him to the Sevii Islands where he was to lead the team and await further instructions. He never got them and Giovanni supposedly disappeared.
- V. Meeting Petrel and Proton
After Giovanni disappeared, Archer moved to the Johto region. The Sevii Islands served no more purpose to him, and if Giovanni was goind to disappear, he'd probably leave the Kanto region completely. Archer took to the Johto region in search of Team Rocket's missing boss. Along the way he found two other like-minded individuals, Petrel and Proton. The two joined Archer and Ariana and they formed the Fantastic Four the ring-leaders for Team Rocket's Johto branch.
- VI. The Radio Tower (and events at the Lake of Rage)
Though Archer wasn't there when the base at Mahogany fell, he certainly was affected. Granted, it wasn't a big Rocket base and it wasn't vital, but it was an affront to his team and his authority. Archer had been one of the ones to help plan the Lake of Rage radio-wave-transmission data, as he had worked on a similar project in the Sevii Islands as per Giovanni's orders. With three years to work on it, Archer had discovered the flaws he needed to fix and had perfected the plan. Mahogany was merely a test subject. From there he (with the help of his team) took over the Radio Tower in Goldenrod and was going to spread the signal all across Johto. But first he wanted to let Giovanni know of Team Rocket's resurgance. He was defeated before Giovanni heard (at least to his knowledge) and before he could put his ultimate plan into action.
- VII. Disbanding Team Rocket
Though it hurt him to do so, Archer vowed to disband Team Rocket and cease their criminal activities after being defeated by some crazy kid. He wasn't furious about losing - that wasn't exactly unexpected - he was furious that he had to follow Giovanni's lead and break the team up. Archer had grown to admire his fellow Executives and even stand the Grunts. He found Team Rocket to be more of a family than a crime syndicate. Breaking them up broke him in some ways, and he's not gotten over that yet.
14. What does he fear? Abandonment or betrayal. It takes a lot to get Archer to trust anyone, and having that trust betrayed terrifies him. He's particularly afriad of losing someone close to him because of something he did - not necessarily resulting in their death, but rather resulting in them hating/betraying/abandoning him.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations? TO GET IN GIOVANNI'S PANTS. To bring Team Rocket back to its former glory and to reinstate Giovanni as the head. He wants things to go back to how they were three years ago, before some other crazy kid went around beating up Team Rocket. What a douchewad.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? Archer isn't open about his past, but there isn't anything he'd kill someone to keep quiet. He's had a fairly standard read; boring life.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. It was a good one, really. Archer didn't ever see much of his father - a Pokemon researcher for Silph Co. - so he grew up with his mother's watchful eye always on him. He was their only child, and he was spoiled rotten. It didn't help that he grew up in Celadon and could do whatever the hell he wanted and get away with it.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? Nope, none.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? None known. There probably are some, but Archer isn't talking about them.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? Archer has a difficult time separating friends from family. He tends to get too close to his friends, blurring that ever-important line. There is a separation between the two, he just doesn't always see it. As such, Archer considers Ariana, Petrel, and Proton to be very close to him.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? His Houndoom. They met when he stole Houndour from a trainer. Ah, love at first sight.
6. Does he have other close friends? Houndour. Oh, and Ariana, Petrel, and Proton.
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people? Definitely has trouble with it. Archer tends to only make friends if he can use them. They rarely stay on for long enough to become actual friends.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends? Again, he blurs this line without thinking. If he had to choose he's probably say family - because again, he pretty much considers his close friends to be family.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? Very single and looking~.
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? No spouse, and no. He's not. BUT WHEN HE FINDS GIOVANNI~~
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest? GIOVANNI. AND GIOVANNI AGAIN. His first crush was on one of the trainers at Erika's gym, actually. He usually went over to gym to train his newly-captured Houndour, and he just happened to see that one girl... He never even found out her name. She didn't last long on his radar. His most recent crush? He's not telling. He's not open at all about whom he likes.
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner? Brains - he has to be able to hold an intelligent conversation with them. Beauty - appearances count after all. Open-mindedness - because he doesn't want someone who's going to turn him into the police once they find that he's married to Team Rocket a Pokemon gangstaher. And there are probably some other things, but he'll let you know what's wrong with you.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any? Nope. Thankfully.
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies? Archer doesn't really hold grudges. He doesn't have any enemies or rivals, so to speak. He does dislike the kid who beat him an thwarted his plans to find Giovanni and evolve Pokemon at will, but that's really about it. Oh, and he hates anyone who gets in the way of his relationship with Giovanni. TTLY.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the
Kinsey scale? He's pretty much a three. Women, men, whateverrrr. He'll go for either! Though Archer is not a fan of "traps." Pick your gender and stick to it, kthnx.
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him? Sex is... well, it's not as important to Archer as some other things. GIOVANNI. Team Rocket and its success is more important to him than his own pleasure though he can totally get off on it too.
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
- Turn-ons: GIOVANIIIIII Power. Of any sort. He's not super-keen on being dominated, but he will play around with the idea of BDSM. He's never actually experienced any of it though. Archer is fond of pain - to an extent, of course - so chances are you'll find some weapons in the bedroom. (He won't hurt you. Much.) He's got a bit of a sadomasochistic streak, so it's okay to hurt him too.
- Turn-offs: Weird fetishes. Children. SUPER-MUSCULAR GUYS. Pussy guys. SCARY MUSCULAR WOMEN. Or any woman that could overpower him, really.
- The weird stuff: Knives. They are under the bed. Archer's also quite fond of toys 'cause, y'know, his sexual experiences are mostly solo. And dirty-talk. Mmyeah. He's not a cuddler after sex, but he doesn't mind spending the night with his partners. THREEWAYS + MOREWAYS ANYONE?
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (
zodiac of
choice) sign? How well does he fit type? There is no canon for this. I'll figure out which one he's more like later, but I'm leaning toward Virgo at the moment.
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life? Nope. While he's not anti-religious, Archer doesn't hold any religious beliefs. If Arceus is God, then he'll be captured by Team Rocket all the same.
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? PFFT. HE WORKS FOR TEAM ROCKET, WHAT DO YOU THINK. Actually, Archer does have some morals. He's very against his mundane cheating in SoulSilver. While he doesn't mind harming innocents (people or Pokemon), he'd rather not get his hands dirty with it. While he isn't a complete scoundral, Archer's moral compass doesn't exactly point north. A lot of "society's" notions are completely ridiculous, in his mind.
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? He's rather indiffierent to what everyone else thinks. Unless they're insulting Giovanni and his greatness. Then you're getting Fire Blasted in the face courtesy of Houndoom.
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? Archer doesn't really have any prejudices. He's quite open-minded; though he does stereotype. Small town people are hicks, mothers who let their children run out into tall grass without Pokemon are awful people, etc.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? Archer isn't exactly rich, but he's much better off than most people. How is this possible if he isn't all that steller of a Pokemon trainer? Well, he is clever and does get paid a lot by Team Rocket. Even after the breakup three years ago he still isn't suffering financially. He has a nice apartment in Goldenrod City where he spent the three years planning Team Rocket's comeback, but now that he's been defeated...
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? Archer used to be the odd one out. The last kid picked for any games. You know, the one kid who just never fits in no matter what he does. Now he's not like that. Now he's capable of blending in wherever he goes - sometimes even despite his obvious affiliation with Team Rocket. He's learned how to tell others what they want to hear, and he'll do it for Team Rocket. Is there anything he won't do for Team Rocket...?
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? His apartment in Goldenrod City is a nice place, but it isn't where he always stays. While working on the radio signal at the Lake of Rage he stayed within the underground Rocket hideout with the other Executives. Archer is quite comfortable moving around. He's secretly fond of sharing a room with his fellow Executives and not just because he gets to watch Ariana undress.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? Team Rocket-y things? Archer isn't overly-frugal, but he's not a big-spender either. He saves his money and invests wisely. Most of it is invested within Team Rocket's projects, of course. What he does spend his money on is typically necessary. He'll occasionally spend extra money on his Pokemon - but only if no one he knows is around. How embarassing would that be, for them to catch him actually caring about his Pokemon?
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? DON'T LET HIM HEAR YOU ASK THIS OR HE'LL PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE. It probably won't hurt though. Archer loves his job. He loves being a part of Team Rocket, and especially loves his status as an Executive. Bossing Grunts around is fun! He does wish Giovanni would take the reigns again - it's difficult getting all four Executives to agree on anything, and everything has to be unanimous. Going out for dinner is impossible.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? Doing more Team Rocket work. Seriously. He has no life outside of the organization. He doesn't train his Pokemon, nor does he socialize with anyone outside of Team Rocket.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? Archer can occasionally get so deep into something that he can skip meals entirely. He can easily overwork himself because of this sort of thing, which tends to cycle viciously when he's stressed. Alcohol tends to come into play to relieve the stress... which never ends well. Outside of that, Archer doesn't drink often. He's got a rather low alcohol tolerance level. As far as food goes, only the best will do. If he's working, he'll eat whatever's thrown his way without caring, though.
