The Passion of The Christ is in theaters soon - this week on Wednesday.. what do you think about this movie? I'm going to see it for sure - the trailers were enough to convince me. I read somewhere that it's the widest opening ever for a subtitled movie; I have a feeling subtitles won't detract from the full effect of this movie though. After looking at the trailers which have no subtitles or english at all, it was reinforced for me that lack of spoken english in this film won't hurt one bit. To sum up my impression of The Passion: it's a work of art.

Another fascinating aspect to this movie is all the controversy that has been generated about it.
Some people, not really representative of Jewish people, but rather self appointed Jewish spokespeople, such as Abraham Foxman from the Anti-Defamation League, seem to have been attempting to denounce this film for months as being anti-Semitic. The news reported that they even stole the script last year! But here's what some Jews say (Jews who don't make it their job to ( ... )

I'm the one who reads your mind
See my life in your design
True companion at your side

I'll leave you something for when I'm not around,
To make you smile,
Outside that wasteland
And if only I could make it through
If you think it then it must be true
Wherever you are

::waves back:

hi random unknown friend! Really nice to meet you! It's a great song, isn't it? Indeed, everyone should know this song -- it's very haunting and poignient... one of my favorites from Sir Elton!

What's even scarier that the fact that I'm one of the handful of people who actually know this song is the fact I can actually sing it (and play along on the piano). :)

I remember sitting in my stepdad's VW bus, riding down the road singing this song under my breath...and listening to it again and again in my room when I was a kid. Tumbleweed Connection has faded into almost obscurity as far as mainstream music goes, and I think it's a crying shame.

lol -- my dad had a VW bus, too. How amazing! I fully agree with you about Tumbleweed Connection -- When I was a kid, it was the first EJ album I ever got - and I flat wore it out. I played it over and over in my room until I wore out the grooves, and my folks had to buy me a new record. To this day, it's my favorite album. That I play piano today is due, in large part, to that album and almost entirely to Sir Elton. :)
