The short version is I'm alive and well in Texas, almost into Oklahoma. No major problems to speak of, and I am now on Central time.
I made it into and almost out of the pan handle part of Texas. I'm in Shamrock, which is east of Amarillo. I drove about 380 miles today, and considering I left late because I was dealing with my black water I can't really complain. I really needed to take care of it. Let's just say the massive heat wave did nothing good to my black water.
Last night my uterus decided it was not an eventful enough day for me. I am so overjoyed. Really. I hate cramps.
Today went well also. I didn't get the oil changed because I was misinformed. Camping World service department was not open today. I was shocked when someone at the RV park told me it was open, and I didn't really believe them. I made sure to check the website before bothering to drive over there. Glad I did.
I drove past a *giant* cross on the highway today. It was at exit 112 on the 40 in Texas. According to the sign, it's the largest cross in the western hemisphere. Yes, I am definitely in Texas.
I forgot to post this yesterday. I pulled off at a "Loves" to take a quick break. I don't really care for them because they don't have good parking for me. The only parking available was the back-in parking for trucks, no pull throughs. Instead of going to the other truck stop across the way, I decided to bite the bullet and give it a go. I managed to back in the RV, with the truck attached, into a spot *next* to a rig. I nearly sprained my arm patting myself on the back.
I passes a huge cow farm today. There was a sign out front eluding to the fact that this is where your dinner came from last night. And it certainly smelled like cow, I can tell you that much. I don't think I've ever seen that many cows in one place before. Made me want to put on one of my hats and chew a piece of grass. *lol*
The RV park I was in yesterday was very nice, the one today is just bare bones. But they do have DVDs that they let you take to watch since there's no cable. I am finally getting to watch Failure to Launch. Can I just say how different Sarah Jessica Parker looks with long straight hair?? So far I am enjoying it muchly.
I've been slightly retarded the past few days. Most of you know I had varicose vein surgery a couple of years ago, and that I wear the dead sexy granny socks to work. Well, tard that I am didn't think about the fact that my legs have been in a dependant position for most of the day for the past 4 days. Yesterday my one ankle was bothering me, but since it was my right foot, I figured it was from the gas pedal. {yeah, I am *much* more comfortable driving the RV now, but I'm not ready for cruise control yet}. Today when I stopped, both my legs hurt, and I'm pretty sure they were swollen. I have since put on the socks and plan to continue to wear them for the rest of the drive. *sigh* You'd think I'd know better.... At least I've been hydrating...
Other than that, nothing much to report. It's only been in the 90's, and the inside of the rig has only been in the high 80's, so it's not nearly as bad as when I was in AZ. I'm hoping it stays on the cooler side till I get home.
Oh, and I'm 2 hours ahead of CA and only an hour behind the east coast now. It's kinda throwing me off a little, but I'll adjust at some point...
