Dear Hermione,
Look, whatever you think I did wrong, I didn’t. You’re the one who deserted me-you think I can ignore those…looks you were giving Harry? Do you think I can ignore the fact that none of us were doing anything out there in the woods? I thought you said we were going after Him-it seems that all we did was sit around in a tent for a few months.
Okay, look. I know there’s no way you’ll be able to get this letter. You’re too smart of a witch-there’s no way you’ll just forget the protection boundaries around the camp. I can’t even deliver it without an owl. I don’t even know where you both are. And I can’t ever find you. You’re lost, Hermione. Or maybe I am.
…I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t understand why I even left in the first place. Not just leaving you and Harry, but leaving you. I’m so stupid, and I realize that-you don’t deserve me, Hermione. You don’t deserve stupid, cowardly Ron Weasley. You deserve someone brave, intelligent-someone like Harry. Some other guy that’s not me. All I do is keep getting lost.
I shouldn’t have been so mean to you at school, Hermione. I should’ve asked you to the Yule Ball, I shouldn’t have asked Lavender out…
I shouldn’t have left you.
I know that now, but what else can I do? I can’t go back in time (well, I guess I could, with a Time Turner, but that’s not the point!) I can’t change what’s already happened-so I have to find a way to fix things now.
I’ll find you, Hermione. Don’t worry. I don’t want to be lost anymore.
