Hooray for you and Sam! Those raised beds look great.
I planted some tomatoes in a raised bed, but Amby jumped inside them to eat the compost and smashed some of the little plants down :-(

That looks so good, I'm impressed. Do let me know how the upside-down tomato thing works for you, I've seen them in catalogs, but never known someone who tried it.

My one bit of unsolicited advice: I noticed that you have put down bricks between the beds, but not around the edges. If you can, I'd advise that you do "something" also around the perimeter, even if it is simply layers of cardboard, or weed block, covered with woodchips. I DID NOT do this (yet), thinking that my garden would look prettier surrounded by the grass. Now I have been fighting the dang grass, which really wants to move into the moist and much tastier soil inside the beds, since I do not water my lawn.

We bought hazelnut shells yesterday as a ground cover and I am inclined to agree with you about the edges of the raised bed. It's already a pain trying to mow around them. Maybe we need to buy a bit more of them.
